TWO new teams will make their debut while two foreign guest squads will add more flavor to the Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference set to start next month.
PVL tournament director Tony Boy Liao told Malaya Business Insight that new teams Gerflor and Farm Fresh will compete in the tourney beginning June 29.
The Army Lady Troopers, who failed to come up with a podium finish in the last three conferences, have begged off, according to Liao.
“There are two new teams, Gerflor and Farm Fresh. Army is not joining,” Liao said, adding the foreign guest teams come from Japan and Australia.
Completing the field are the Creamline Cool Smashers, Petro Gazz Angels, Chery Tiggo Crossovers, Cignal HD Spikers, F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, Akari Chargers and PLDT High Speed Hitters.
Akari and Cignal have beefed up their rosters, adding Ateneo standouts Faith Nisperos and Vanie Gandler, respectively.
The Invitational was originally set to start on June 6 but was moved to June 29 to give way to the Philippine women’s volleyball team that will see action in the 2023 Asian Volleyball Confederation Challenge Cup for Women on June 18-25.
Last year’s Invitational was ruled by the Cool Smashers, beating Taipei’s KingWhale Taipei in the championship.
