The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) gathered key national agencies, local executives, and partner institutions for the Charity Summit 2025 last September 5 at the Manila Hotel’s Centennial Hall. With the theme “Serving More Through Greater Collaboration,” the summit underscores the Marcos administration’s commitment to expanding social services for Filipinos through stronger partnerships and sustained humanitarian efforts.
More than 200 participants, including government leaders, civic organizations, and program beneficiaries attended the event. The summit showcased PCSO’s role as a major enabler of the Marcos administration’s agenda to make healthcare and social support more accessible nationwide.
The program opened with the PCSO Board of Directors delivering welcome remarks, followed by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Undersecretary Monina Josefina Romualdez, who delivered the keynote address, aligning with the administration’s push for a more responsive welfare system.
PCSO General Manager Melquiades A. Robles presented the agency’s accomplishments and impact report, highlighting how PCSO funds have supported medical assistance, hospital services, and community-based charity programs—initiatives that directly complement the Marcos administration’s vision of stronger safety nets for vulnerable sectors.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, president of the League of Cities of the Philippines, also delivered a message of support, followed by Ryan Joseph A. Sarte of the Presidential Action Center (PACE), who shared updates on the center’s programs aimed at improving government responsiveness to citizens’ needs.
Key policy and program discussions include PhilHealth’s benefit packages, to be detailed by AVP Rey T. Valera, and the DSWD accreditation process, presented by Division Chief Anna Marla Alexa S. Ledda. The Philippine Red Cross, represented by Angelito V. Delos Santos, also contributed insights on humanitarian aid and disaster response.
Exhibits, open forums, and networking activities allowed participants to exchange best practices, while the symbolic “Handprints on the Commitment Wall” served as a collective pledge to strengthen humanitarian partnerships.
For the Marcos administration, the Charity Summit is more than just a gathering—it is a strategic step in consolidating the government’s efforts to provide health, welfare, and disaster relief services to more Filipinos. By bringing together agencies and stakeholders under one platform, PCSO is ensuring that social services reach the grassroots, fulfilling the President’s call for a government that is “closer to the people, stronger in compassion, and wider in reach.”
