Underserved communities and various sectors continue to benefit from the unwavering support of BDO Foundation for the government’s national financial literacy goals and delivery of basic health services at the grassroots level, highlighting the progress that can be achieved when the public and private sectors collaborate to achieve social good.
BDO Foundation—the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, Inc.—has achieved its target of producing a total of nine online financial education modules in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas under the latter’s National Strategy for Financial Inclusion. These modules, which are accessible through the BSP E-Learning Academy and the TESDA Online Program cover topics on personal finance like Basics of Investing, Fraud and Scams, Financial Planning, Budgeting and Saving, and Debt Management.

Aside from the BSP, BDO Foundation has partnered with other government agencies to implement financial education programs for different segments of society. These include public school students, teaching and non-teaching personnel from the Department of Education, overseas Filipino workers and their families, civil servants, uniformed personnel, fisherfolk, and farmers.
BDO Foundation makes its learning materials more relevant and engaging by tailoring them to the specific needs of each sector and fostering collaboration with partner organizations.
Based on the BDO 2024 Sustainability Report, BDO Foundation’s financial education initiatives have already reached more than 13 million beneficiaries, majority of whom are students.
In addition to developing financial learning modules, BDO Foundation supports public health workers and local government units in providing basic healthcare services to far-flung communities, through the rehabilitation of rural health units or RHUs.
RHUs are the primary point of contact for communities to access healthcare, as they are often located in areas far from hospitals or clinics. These facilities offer basic health checks, routine immunizations, and various preventive health care services. Most RHUs also house birthing facilities. BDO Foundation enhances the physical condition of RHUs by improving their layout, interiors and exteriors, and adding features like breastfeeding stations for nursing mothers, play areas for kids, and waiting areas for seniors to make the facilities more comfortable and functional for patients.
By rehabilitating and upgrading these health centers, BDO Foundation empowers health workers by giving them better facilities to work in, thus ensuring patients receive continuous care. The improved facilities also enable the municipal health offices to comply with the standards for accreditation by the Department of Health and Philippine Health Insurance Corp., helping them to qualify for more financial support. Through these efforts, BDO strengthens grassroots healthcare delivery particularly for underserved populations in remote and disaster-affected areas.
As of end-2024, BDO Foundation has already rehabilitated 191 RHUs across the archipelago, covering more than nine million in population.
