Strategic partnership empowers last-mile learners with technology access

Four organizations joined forces on September 9 to tackle educational inequality head-on, delivering 100 laptops to geographically isolated schools across the Philippines. The Aboitiz Foundation, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Huawei, and GoDigital Philippines held a turnover ceremony that represents more than a simple donation—it’s a lifeline for students cut off from digital opportunities.

The laptops directly support the Aboitiz Foundation’s AuroraPH program, which brings renewable energy, internet connectivity, and digital learning tools to remote communities. These previously unreachable schools now have pathways to educational resources that were once impossible to access.

The foundation’s Elevate AIDA program complements this effort by creating digital work opportunities for women and mothers, enabling them to earn income from home while developing crucial digital skills.

“These laptops aren’t just tools—they’re gateways to creativity, opportunity, and dignity,” said Aboitiz Foundation president Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar. She shared how one AuroraPH student, despite having no textbooks, joined virtual lessons using borrowed tablets and internet access, transforming dreams into possibilities.

The collaboration showcases the power of strategic partnerships: DICT’s policy leadership, Huawei’s technology investment, GoDigital’s community networks, and Aboitiz’s innovation ecosystem working in unison. This digital bayanihan approach ensures no Filipino child remains disconnected from learning opportunities.

The initiative advances Aboitiz Group’s ambitious goal to become the Philippines’ first “Techglomerate”—using technology as a catalyst for both community development and business growth.

For students in remote barrios, these 100 laptops represent something profound: the chance to connect, compete, and contribute to the nation’s digital future.
