Vic Sotto is very proud of son Vico Sotto, current mayor of Pasig.
The actor-host, in a Zoom press con for the anniversary of “Daddy’s Gurl.” was asked what he thought of his politician-son.

“Kahit ako nagging member ng fans’ club nya,” he said.
“Alam ko naman when he started public service, nung nagpaalam siya na tatakbo siyang konsehal, alam kong nasa puso nya na magsilbi sa tao, ‘yung totoo, hindi ‘yung gusto lang maging in power
“Lalo na nung nagsabi siya sa akin na he wants to run for mayor, dahil hindi biro tinahak nya landas.
“I’m very proud that he’s setting a very good example of what good governance is all about. Hindi kailangan maging corrupt.
Mas maraming nakikinabang sa Pasig ngayon, mas madali ang buhay. Dati kailangan sumuot as ilalim ng mesa — under the table — ngayon online lang makakakuha ka na ng permit.”
Vic is also proud of “Daddy’s Gurl,” which is marking its third anniversary. He said that loving work — in spite of the current pandemic — is what keeps him going.
“Pinaghuhugutan ko [ng inspiration] trabaho ko rin,” he said, “Enjoy ako sa ginagawa ko, I love what I’m doing. Iyon ‘yung nais kong i-impart sa mga bagong kasama. Enjoy your work, love your work.
“Three years ang bilis lumipas. Parang kelan lang ‘yung pilot, ngayon third anniversary na. Hindi mo mapapanisn when work does not feel like work.”
The pandemic has kept everyone inside their homes, Vic included. He has been enjoying hosting “Eat Bulaga” from home, especially because he lives with two entertainers. For “Daddy’s Gurl,” although he misses the “batuhan” with the cast, he has become adept at virtual interaction with his co-stars.
“Of course, nakaka-miss because it’s been more than a year na that I’ve been working from home. Pero enjoy din ako. I love it kasi habang nagtratrabaho ako at the same time hindi ako naiinip, may nag-e-entertain sa akin na itago natin sa pangalang Pauleen at Tali.
“Working sa studio, I miss, although I don’t miss the traffic … pero ‘yung taping with sina Benjie [Paras] and new members sa cast, puro virtual lang kwentuhan naming. We just have to adjust to the new normal for now. Though personally I think it would take some time before we return to normal.”
For “Daddy’s Gurl’s” third anniversary episode tomorrow, October 23, Barak (Vic) and Stacy (Maine Mendoza) will welcome new boarders, to be played by “StarStruck” hunk Prince Clemente, “Mr. Pogi” Carlo San Juan, basketball player Prince Carlos and streamer Jem Manicad. Chris Martinez, the sitcom’s director, said that aside from the new characters, a possible love interest for Stacy will be introduced.
