Riding the Hallyu wave, Filipinos have idolized K-pop idols and imbibed the culture by dressing up, using Korean products, feasting on their food, and even learning Hangul. But there are Koreans who have also fallen for the Philippines and its culture. One such individual is South Korean dancer and Tiktok star Dasuri Choi.

She revealed what she likes about the country in a Zoom press con Tuesday where she was introduced as the brand ambassador of Hyundai Home Appliances.
“Sa Korea may four seasons, may winter, may spring…. Pero mas na appreciate ko dito kasi yung mindset ng Pinoy sobrang positive. It does not matter kung hot and humid, bagyo o baha, my mindset is very peaceful here, more than when I was in Korea. Sobrang says ko po dito. Sobrang hospitable ang Filipinos at speechless ako talaga. Everyone is welcoming to foreigners like me, so mas pinili ko ang Pinoy,” she explained.
The 33-year-old “You’re My Foreignay” second runner-up said she has found happiness and contentment in the country, after having tried making it in South Korea where she worked as a backup dancer.
“Wala akong dream mag pursue ng career sa ibang bansa,” she maintained, “I tried to pursue my career sa Korea, naging backup dancer ako, pero dito is another challenge for me. Ok na ako dito. Kung may chance sa ibang bansa, why not? Pero sa ngayon ang mindset ko, mas OK ako dito at masaya ako dito — what I do right now and what I have right now.”
She would like to collaborate with fellow dancers Rayver Cruz and Rochelle Pangilinan, and also admitted to wanting to have a Filipino oppa.
“Of course, nandito ako so gusto ko mag-jowa naman Pinoy, gusto ko mag try Filipino oppa, dati po puro Korean oppa,” she revealed. “Pinoy naman para iba.”
Daisuri also welcomes the chance to help introduce the range of Hyundai Home Appliances, under its exclusive distributor, GTC-Aldis Philippines, Inc.
She attested to the brand’s reliability, and recommended its television with JBL speakers, inverter air-conditioner, and steam rice cooker.
“I am so happy to see Hyundai expanding into the Filipino market. Being part of Hyundai Home Appliances has been such a wonderful experience and I’m truly grateful that a global brand that gives innovative solutions has welcomed me into their family,” she said,
“(Hyundai) in Korean, translates to modern or contemporary times and much like the Filipinos who strive for progress in their lives, the brand has been producing reliable electronics and home appliances. The Hyundai Home Appliances I own have a special place in my Korean heart since they are not only pleasing to my eyes because of their classy designs, but also because they are very reliable and efficient. I am honored to share this brand to my family and friends and make them part of the Hyundai Home Appliances community.”
Aside from appearing in “Eat Bulaga,” Choi has since been a co-host on the GMA News TV reality-lifestyle show “Day Off” opposite comedian Boobay and singer-actress Julie Ann San Jose and has appeared on GMA’s “Pepito Manaloto,” “My Korean Jagiya,” and “Inday Will Always Love You.”
