“‹Found Films, and EMBA Production proudly bring “Lola Igna,” an entry in the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.
“Lola Igna” aims to connect with the Filipino moviegoers with important life lessons to learn. The film is headlined by Angie Ferro with Yves Flores, Royce Cabrera, Meryll Soriano, and Maria Isabel Lopez.
It explores the story from the point of view of a granddaughter and a great-great-grandson and the dynamics of their relationship with their great-great-grandmother.
Living in a secluded hut in the middle of rice fields, Lola Igna is a 118-year old grumpy old woman who just wants to die already but her neighbors are hung up on winning the World Record for the oldest living grandmother which makes her an instant celebrity. In the middle of all the sudden changes in Lola Igna’s life, she meets Tim, her great-great-grandchild from Ana (Meryll). Tim is an aspiring vlogger who wants to latch on to his now-famous grandmother.
Written and directed by Eduardo Roy, Jr., “Lola Igna” stars the iconic character actress, Miss Angelica “Angie” Caballero Ferro, who started acting in 1969 as a PETA theater actor, where she was one of the pioneer resident actors. Her film and TV credits consist of nearly a hundred, with notable performances on “Atsay” and “Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara.”
“Bagay na bagay ‘yung role kay Tita Angie. Feisty siya, not your typical lola,” said Direk Edong, “Ganun si Lola Igna. Nung napanood ko, kasi madalas siyang kontrabida, naisip ko gusto ko rin na makit siya in a different light — na siya naman ang maging bida. Tulad sa mga pelikula lang, tulad ng ‘Atsay’ at ‘Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara.’ Everytime na nasa screen siya, nang-aagaw siya ng eksena.
“Lola Igna is Angie Ferro and Angie Ferro is Lola Igna,” he further said, “Synonymous na sa isa’t isa.”
