Robbie Jaworski, the firstborn son of Mikee Cojuangco and Pasig Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski, has officially stepped into the spotlight.
Robbie joined the Star Magic family last Friday, November 22, marking his formal entry into showbiz. The event was graced by ABS-CBN’s COO for Broadcast, Cory Vidanes, his managers Girlie Rodis and Monch Novales, and Star Magic head Lauren Dyogi. His parents, Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski and Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski, along with his brother Rafael, were also present to show their unwavering support.
“In the VTR, what attracted me most was when you said ‘masipag at mapagmahal.’ Those are the values and the traits we hope for our artists. So I said talagang bagay ka sa amin. I hope you enjoy the journey, and I hope you’re happy… And we know that it will be your turn to give inspiration and happiness as we continue to serve the Filipino,” Cory Vidanes warmly remarked.
Girlie Rodis shared her thoughts on Robbie’s journey, saying, “I’m very happy that ABS-CBN, Star Magic has agreed to co-manage Robbie because I believe that they have the best platform for him and they’re not rushing him. They’re really allowing him to grow organically. And his parents are very supportive…”
Direk Lauren highlighted Robbie’s values and humility, saying, “Robbie fit to the values that we have in ABS-CBN. You know he’s very humble; with all the occasions that we’ve been together, hindi ko siya naramdaman na may ere siya o mayabang siya. He’s a very humble guy. That’s why he connects with a lot of people easily.”
In a surprise VTR, his father, Vice Mayor Dodot, expressed his pride, saying, “Robbie, as you embark on a new career, I wish you the best, anak. We’ve been so proud of you. I know that you will go places and you will share your talent with the world.” His mother, Mikee, added heartfelt words: “Robbie, may God bless your every endeavor and throughout everything you do, nandito kami para sa’yo. We love you.”
Aside from his family’s proud legacy — he is also the grandson of basketball icon Robert “Big J” Jaworski — Robbie is determined to carve out his unique path. “My famous relatives set themselves apart from others in their own way, and yung sa akin, hindi ko po masyadong hinahambing ang sarili ko sa mga kamag-anak ko. I just see that they have provided me with an example, and I can choose to follow it in my own way or I can choose to go by a separate way,” he reflected.
Robbie’s entry into showbiz has been a journey of reflection, prayer, and discovery. His first exposure to the industry came in 2014 when his now-manager Monch Novales asked if he wanted to be part of “Pinoy Big Brother.” “Tinanong niya ako if I want to be a part of ‘Pinoy Big Brother.’ Andun ‘yung dad ko that time, sinabi niya parang I want them to be bankers,” he recounted.
While he didn’t pursue it then, the seed was planted, and after years of contemplation, he decided to take the leap in 2024.
“Ang dahilan po na papasok po ako dito or pumasok po ako dito sa showbiz because after praying about it and also seeing my parents and my grandparents… I realized that this might be an opportunity for me to find the greater purpose in something bigger than just myself,” he explained.
Robbie has been introduced as the newest MYX veejay. And he landed his first endorsement, gracing Bench billboards for the first time.
“I actually got to receive the honor of presenting the mellow video of the year in the MYX music awards …. I’m just so excited to get to know Sam and the other MYX veejays more, getting to know other hosts like Kuya Robi and Edward as well.”
Despite the pressures that come with his family background, Robbie embraces the challenge. “Sometimes I do feel pressure, but most of the time it’s a good pressure. I’m grateful na rin na pinanganak ako sa isang pamilya na madami na rin silang ginawa at nakaambag sa kanilang mga komunidad for that. I’m very grateful,” he said.
Still, he is focused on self-discovery. “I’m not my father, I’m not my lolo, I’m me. So that is something I am excited to explore, and I’m confident na I’ll figure out.”
