Ex-Senator Jinggoy Estrada, who is gunning for a senatorial slot this May, said he believes actress Sharon Cuneta, his kumare, will vote for him.
“I am very confident that Sharon Cuneta will vote for me because friendship goes beyond politics,” Jinggoy said at an online presser on Tuesday.
Cuneta’s husband, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, is the running-mate of presidential aspirant, Vice President Leni Robredo. Estrada, meanwhile, is running under the coalition of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos and his vice-presidential bet, Davao Mayor Sara Duterte.
Estrada hopes that another kumare, actress Kris Aquino, will vote for him. Kris is the baptismal godmother of Jinggoy and wife Precy’s eldest child, Janella.
“She is my kumare and she knows that I am a hardworking senator so I am hoping that she will vote for me,” he said.
He added that he is praying for Kris, who has been undergoing tests and treatment for an autoimmune disease.
“If there is anything I can do for Kris, I will gladly do it for her. Kung ano mang maitutulong ko sa kanya… for her medical needs… ako, willing ako to give a helping hand,” he said.
“Despite the fact that we belong to different parties,” he added, “[because] again, friendship goes beyond politics.”
Jinggoy said he appreciates the support of his family members, especially his siblings, who are all out in their support for him. He mentioned that his daughter Janella has been actively campaigning for him and revealed that although he may have some siblings who are “rosas” (meaning for Vice President Leni Robredo), they are nonetheless 100% backing his return to the senate.
“If any son or daughter of mine will support another candidate, I will not prevent them [from doing so], as long as they support me,” he also said.
