‘Imbestigador’ airs new episodes this August

According to the Philippine National Police, crime rate has dipped in the country by 50% with the implementation of quarantine amid the coronavirus pandemic. Despite the decrease, however, several crimes made headlines and even sparked outrage .

This August, GMA News and Public Affairs’ longest-running investigative program “Imbestigador” returns with “Quarantine Crimes”–a series that feature various crimes that happened during quarantine.

On August 8, “Imbestigador” features the sensational case of Fabel Pineda, a 15-year-old girl who was killed in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur last July 2. Prior to her death, Fabel filed a complaint against two policemen of San Juan, Ilocos Sur who arrested her and her cousin for violating the curfew. Based on Fabel’s account, the two officers initially offered to bring them home, but they ended up being molested by the two policemen. Fabel then filed a case against them. But days later, Fabel was gunned down.

Several groups and netizens denounced what happened to Fabel and her cousin. The two police officers have since been relieved from their posts and charges were filed against them.

“Quarantine Crimes” airs beginning August 8 on GMA-7.
