JASMINE Curtis and Ruru Madrid get to work together for the first time in their very first mainstream movie in APT Entertainment’s and Cignal TV’s upcoming romantic drama “Cara X Jagger.”
Directed by ace cinematographer Ice Idanan from an original story by Acy Ramos who also wrote the screenplay with Glaiza Ramirez, “Cara X Jagger” is an unforgettable love story centered on former couple Cara (Curtis) and Jagger (Madrid) who are facing a major conflict that will test the endurance of their relationship. Cara is doing everything in her power to forget a painful event that ruined her relationship with Jagger, while Jagger is fighting to remember his life after losing his memory in a terrible accident.
An award-winning actress and one of today’s top celebrity influencers with millions of followers on social media, Jasmine is internationally recognized for her critically acclaimed performance in 2013’s indie smash hit Transit. Since her debut in show business in 2010, Jasmine has starred in numerous independent films such as “Dementia,” “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo,” “Baka Bukas,” and “Maledicto” to mention a few.
Jasmine is currently a contract star of GMA-7 and has appeared on the network’s successful series “Pamilya Roces” and is set to be part of the ensemble mammoth cast of the highly anticipated “Descendants of the Sun.”
Although it took Jasmine almost 7 years to hit mainstream films as lead actress, “Cara X Jagger” according to her is worth the wait.
“It’s a very different kind of love story,” says Jasmine. “‘Cara X Jagger’ is character-centric and though the conflict between Cara and Jagger is quite unusual, their story still represents what love is all about which is loving someone unconditionally and moving on no matter how painful a relationship has become.”
Jasmine further gushes about how she will never forget her experience in filming “Cara X Jagger” and how excited she is to share the movie with everyone. “We have worked so hard to make ‘Cara X Jagger’ an unforgettable movie. I am humbled and inspired by our team and I am all fired up to promote this movie. I hope everybody will support the love story of Cara and Jagger.”
Ruru, on the other hand, is one of GMA-7’s most talented homegrown artists. After catapulting to mainstream popularity via Protégé: Battle For The Big Artista Break, Ruru top-billed a consistent string of GMA-7’s top rating series such as Dormitoryo, Let The Love Begin, Encantadia, Alyas Robinhood, and recently concluded TODA One I Love among many others.
Through the years, since Ruru started in the business as a neophyte artist some 7 years ago, GMA-7 has meticulously honed and nurtured his craft a young dramatic actor who also excels in the genre of action as evident in the numerous awards that is rightfully given to him such as his Outstanding Breakthrough Performance By An Actor win in the 5th Golden Screen TV Awards for his superb performance on Dormitoryo and his Best Male Actor award, for which he tied with Dingdong Dantes, in the 31st PMPC Star Awards For Television for his remarkable role on Encantadia.
It should be noted that after being featured in several movies, Ruru is all set for his first leading role in a mainstream film in Cara X Jagger.
“It’s a dream come true,” says an ecstatic Ruru. “I’m excited and nervous at the same time. I have always wanted to work with Jasmine because I truly believe that she is one of the best actresses of her generation. I am grateful for the trust that APT gave me and Jasmine. This is one project that I will never forget. I am very proud of ‘Cara X Jagger’.”
“Cara X Jagger” also stars Dante Rivero, Dino Pastrano, Gabby Padilla, Miko Raval, Kenneth Medrano, Michelle Dee, and Sophie Albert.
It is showing in cinemas nationwide starting November 6.
