It’s going to be a star-studded and amazing evening as comedian, TV host and actor Betong Sumaya holds his first solo concert entitled “Betong’s Amazing Concert: Try Ko Lang Ha?” on November 21 at the Music Museum.
The GMA Artist Center talent, known for his comedic skills and knack for hosting, will display his singing prowess and show a different side as a performer. He will be performing with a bevy of stars, including Dingdong Dantes, Alden Richards and Michael V. He also invited Marian Rivera and Ai Ai delas Alas to join him.
“Hanggang umaga po ito, aabot sa ‘Unang Hirit,’” he quipped.
Last July, he signed up with GMA Music and his first-ever single under the label is now in the works. He revealed that even before he entered showbiz, he has always been passionate about music, “Sobra akong thankful and blessed dahil bagong ilalagay ko ito sa aking resume, isa itong pangarap na natupad dahil isa sa mga passion ko talaga ang singing.”
Betong was also part of the successful “Kapusong Pinoy Studio 7 Musikalye sa Brooklyn” of GMA Pinoy TV with Christian Bautista, Julie Anne San Jose, Rayver Cruz, Kyline Alcantara, Golden Cañedo, and Alden.
Currently, he is a mainstay of the country’s longest-running gag show “Bubble Gang.” He also stars in the Kapuso primetime series “The Gift.”
As he gears up for his concert, Betong couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed for this chance to showcase what he has to offer in the local music scene, “Nagpapasalamat po ako sa GMA sa tiwala, hindi ko lubos akalain na magiging recording artist ako pero nandito na ako ngayon, abangan ninyo ang bago kong journey, hindi ko kayo bibiguin at kakaibang Betong po itong matutunghayan ninyo.”
He is also very thankful for the overwhelming support that he got from so many Kapuso stars whom he shares his “journey” with. The guest list is currently growing by the day and we will not be surprised if the concert extends till the wee hours of the morning.
