The skill of comics Sef Cadayona and Andre Paras will be put to the test as they are given their biggest break as hosts of the original game show “Game of the Gens,” premiering this Sunday, February 14, on GMA News TV.
The versatile talents are understandably excited and also nervous as they take on the challenge, but the people behind the show have expressed their full trust on the duo, with creative consultant Marcelo “Loi” Landicho saying that Sef and Andre were the “perfect choice” because of their “kakulitan.”
“‘Yung concept bagay sa kanila,” noted Landicho, “Naghahanap kami nang ide-develop na hosts, so ang bilis. It had to be Sef and Andre, wala ng isip-isip pa. Bagay sila sa konsepto, so madali ‘yung pagkakapili nila.
“Sobrang kulit ng dalawa. First taping pa lang, parang ‘di siya pilot. Sobrang gaan ng trabaho. Ang bilis nung taping. Konti lang ‘yung problema, so perfect choice talaga ‘yung dalawa.”
Sef cut his teeth as a “Bubble Gang” mainstay. He is excited to bring his and Andre’s unique spin to the show. “It’s different because all questions will come from different eras of pop culture that at times, some younger generations don’t even know existed. The audience and the players can look forward to the fun and the energy of the show since we’re merging different generations of people together. We have great guests and contestants who will do their best to outwit one another,” he said.
Andre said being with Sef does not feel like work. “I was shocked when they told me because I had no idea I’d be one of the hosts they would consider. But I will do what I can to make everyone happy and proud. Also, working with Sef doesn’t feel like work. It feels like I’m hanging out with my big brother and having a great time with our guests.”
Joining them in bringing top-notch entertainment in GOTG as the Gen Dolls are Mariko, Crissy, and Mariel of former “Britain’s Got Talent” top act The Miss Tres.
The program fuses singing, dancing, and playing games by engaging two teams against each other in three rounds namely, Tough Pick, Match Better, and List Mo Na ‘Yan. Each team is composed of two pairs from different generations — Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z.
Questions and topics will vary from music, dance, entertainment, fashion, and trends from the different generations that are all relatable to the young and multigenerational. The winning pair will take home the jackpot prize of P300,000.
For the show’s first episode this Sunday, Barbie Forteza and her dad Antonio “Tony” Forteza will play versus Ruru Madrid and seasoned actress Snooky Serna.
“Game of the Gens” is directed by Rico Gutierrez and airs every Sunday, 7:45 p.m. on GMA News TV.
