In every love triangle, there is always that one who is left heartbroken. In the 2016 hit, “Vince and Kat and James,” Vince and Kat end up together, and James — poor James — was not chosen.
This 2020, ABS-CBN Films and Star Cinema presents the story of James in the sequel of “Vince and Kat and James.”
Ronnie Alonte reprises his role as James Raymundo in “James and Pat and Dave.” Playing Pat is Ronnie’s girlfriend Loisa Andalio and Dave is Donny Pangilinan.
The film revolves on what it feels to not be chosen.
“Ito ang buhay ni James,” says Ronnie, “Ano ang buhay ng hindi pinili? ‘Yun ang aabangan ng mga tao. Excited ako, sana ma-appreciate nila.”
“Naisip namin sa Star Cinema na what if ikuwento naman natin ‘yung story ng taong hindi napipili,” says Theodore Boborol, director, “May mahahanap ba silang happy ending? May love story nga ba sila? Bakit nga ba sila hindi pinili?”
In the movie, James is assigned by his lola to work in their hostel. There, he meets assistant manager Pat Reyes(Loisa), who trains him.
The two butt heads in the beginning. The hardheaded guy tries to run away from his duties, while Pat, who is a devoted sister, is not having any of it. James later finds an opportunity to make Pat recommend a raise for him when she needs a pretend boyfriend to get rid of her returning ex, Dave Verona (Donny). Pat asks James for help and this leads the two to become closer.
Ronnie, Loisa and Donny consider “James and Pat and Dave,” a Valentine movie for those not chosen, as their most important roles.
“Nakakakilig kasi,” says Loisa, “Dati nag-aabang lang ako tuwing Valentine’s ng mga ipapalabas ng Star Cinema. Ngayon, kaming tatlo ‘yung andito kaya sobrang blessed and honored talaga.”
“I also believe this is also my biggest break. I watched the first movie, so gusto ko rin Makita talaga ano ang mangyayari this time.”
“James and Pat and Dave” also stars Awra Briguela, Myrtle Sarrosa, Ana Abad Santos, Bobby Andrews, Isay Alvarez, Bodjie Pascua, and Odette Khan. CJ Salonga is being introduced.
