ACTOR Romnick Sarmenta is excited to build bridges with Gen Z stars as he leads the cast of “Maka,” GMA Public Affairs’ latest series designed to resonate across generations.
“Maka,” which airs every Saturday at 4:45 p.m., features a talented ensemble of Gen Z actors, including Sparkie stars Zephanie, Ashley Sarmiento, and Marco Masa, along with Olive May, John Clifford, Dylan Menor, Chanty from the K-Pop group Lapillus, and May Ann Basa, also known as “Bangus Girl.”
Set in the Arts & Performance (A&P) section of Douglas MacArthur High School for the Arts, “Maka” delves into the challenges Gen Z faces today. Romnick plays Sir V, an accomplished but infamous artist whose unexpected role as a mentor reveals that both he and his students have much to learn from each other.
In an interview, Romnick shared his eagerness to build rapport with his co-stars. “I enjoy getting to know more people, especially from that age group, kasi kaedad nila ‘yung mga anak ko. It gives me an insight into how I can better understand my own children,” he said in an interview with GMANetwork.com. “It gives me the opportunity to learn more about their generation and their individual stories. Hopefully, I can share some of my own experiences that might be helpful to them.”
Also in the cast are Tina Paner, Jojo Alejar, Sharmaine Arnaiz, and Maricar De Mesa, with veteran actress Carmen Soriano.
“Maka” is directed by Rod Marmol and premieres this Saturday, September 21.
