DEFENDING champion San Beda is coming off a big win but coach Yuri Escueta is convinced that unless they improve their free throw shooting, they will be in for a hard time in the 100th NCAA basketball tournament.
The Red Lions battle the Generals of Emilio Aguinaldo College today at 2:30 p.m. at The Arena in San Juan after the 11 a.m. match between Letran and Arellano U.
The Red Lions will go into the match armed with an 85-75 win over the Golden Stags of San Sebastian last Saturday for a 2-1 card and are favored to beat the Generals, who have a 1-2 card to show after losing to Emilio Aguinaldo College also last Saturday.
Escueta said his charges need to display composure and use the lessons they have learned in their past games.
“We have to be better. I know it’s still early but the composure when shooting free throws towards the end of the ball game kasama yun doon at ‘yung composure nu’ng team as a whole towards the end,” Escueta said.
