PHILIPPINE Basketball Association (PBA) player John Amores and his brother surrendered to the police yesterday morning after figuring in a shooting incident in Laguna.
Amores, who plays for NorthPort, and his 20-year-old brother turned themselves into the Lumban police station at 2 a.m.
Police later filed charges of attempted murder against Amores.
Lumban police chief Maj. Bob Louis Ordiz said the two played a basketball game in Barangay Salac in Lumban last Wednesday afternoon.
During the game, Amores had an altercation with one of the players, which led to a near fistfight.
Amores and his brother, riding a motorcycle, later went after the other player in Barangay Maytalang Uno.
Amores shot the other player but missed.
The incident was caught on closed-circuit television.
“They voluntarily surrendered to our police station because they said they were getting death threats. They decided to surrender because they were afraid of their safety,” said Ordiz.
