THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has recorded a total of 812 aftershocks from the magnitude 6.8 quake that struck Lingig, Surigao del Sur last Saturday morning.
Phivolcs said the aftershocks, as of 2 p.m. yesterday, ranged from magnitude 1.2 to 6.2.
The magnitude 6.2 aftershock occurred at 12:20 p.m. last Saturday, or six hours after main quake.
The shaking from the 6.2 aftershock was felt at Intensity V in Lingig and Bislig City, also in Surigao del Sur.
The main quake occurred at 6:22 a.m. last Saturday. Its epicenter was some 83 km northeast of Lingig. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 4 km.
It was felt at Intensity V in Lingig, Hinatuan, and Bislig City in Surigao del Sur; Rosario in Agusan del Sur; Maco, Monkayo, Laak, and New Bataan in Davao de Oro; Carmen, Talaingod and Kapalong in Davao del Norte; and Cateel in Davao Oriental.
Phivolcs said it was also felt at Intensity IV in Marihatag in Surigao del Sur; Compostela and Nabunturan in Davao de Oro; Davao City; Panabo City; Panabo City and Santo Tomas in Davao del Norte; Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental.
Phivolcs has said aftershocks were expected from the quake.
Damage to property are not now however expected.
