We’re not fools

‘The dominant Catholic population in the country should not be taken for fools by Rep. Rodante Marcoleta who is running for senator. People remember him for filing a bill to remove and ban crucifixes from all public places, including schools and universities.’

MARIKINA residents have experienced up close the tireless, painstaking efforts and very able management of the COVID-19 crisis by Mayor Marcy Teodoro. Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno also proved to be a cut above the rest among Metro Manila mayors in handling and combatting the pandemic.

There is no doubt that former Marikina mayor Bayani Fernando is the undisputed achiever of Marikina, who had the will and guts to clean the streets of Marikina of innumerable vendors and thieves and instilling discipline in barangays and public offices. He also closed down Marikina’s prostitution bars and dens and undertook a massive drainage project that helped control flooding in the city.

The people of Marikina now have to answer this question: Teodoro or Fernando?

There are speculations the Marcos Jr. camp planted its own man at Smartmatic to deliberately cause “breach of security.” Is this part of an alleged grand scheme of Marcos Jr. for the Comelec to drop Smartmatic, which he knows cannot be trusted to favor him fraudulently in any of its operations?

Allegedly, Marcos Jr. was expecting Smartmatic to “cooperate” in his petition for a Comelec recount against Vice President Leni Robredo. As it turned out, Robredo’s lead over Marcos became bigger after the recount.

In investigating the “security breach,” the NBI should go deeper and uncover the real score than what Comelec officials want to appear.

Another circus is playing out in the Senate: The Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms and People’s Participation chaired by no less than Sen. Imee Marcos has started a probe on the issue, with the NBI already claiming that it was not possible that only one man was involved in the security breach, possibly leading to a finding of a major violation of the Smartmatic contract that may necessitate its termination.

The dominant Catholic population in the country should not be taken for fools by Rep. Rodante Marcoleta who is running for senator. People remember him for filing a bill to remove and ban crucifixes from all public places, including schools and universities.

His membership with the Iglesia ni Cristo does not bestow him any legislative right or authority to trample on other religions and foment blasphemy. He is also remembered for being one of the representatives who had shamelessly kowtowed to Malacanang to shut down ABS-CBN.

Also one of the outstanding faces in the forced closure of the network is Alan Peter Cayetano, who is also running for the Senate. People should never forget!
