The reason Alden-Bea movie was shelved

JULIE Anne San Jose was paired then with Elmo Magalona and they did a movie, “Just One Summer,” that unfortunately didn’t do as well as expected at the tills. She now finds a new partner in Rayver Cruz in their first movie together, “The Cheating Game,” which will be shown in theaters on July 26.

Julie Anne got rave reviews for her portrayal of the tragic Rizal heroine in the primetime drama, “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” but she is totally different as Hope in “The Cheating Game.”

“Yes, I play a character who’s bolder, more daring than anything I’ve done before,” Julie says. “I feel I have to take a risk to play more mature roles now at hindi na ‘yung usual teenybopper roles I did before. I play a young woman cheated on by her boyfriend, played by Martin del Rosario.”

Has she really experienced being cheated on? “Lahat naman siguro tayo, naka-experience na ng ganyang sitwasyon, not just in relationships, but in life in general. Basta for me, once you betrayed my trust, it’s non-negotiable. But you should learn to forgive, so you can move on.”

How come she agreed to do intimate scenes with Rayver? “It’s because I’m so comfortable with him. Maybe kung iba ang kapareha ko, maiilang talaga ako. But with him, I didn’t feel any awkwardness at all and I’m just grateful siya ang nakasama ko because I can really feel kung paano niya ako alagaan and how much he really cares for me.”

The two stars have denied that they have a rift.

ALDEN RICHARDS and BEA ALONZO

Alden Richards and Bea Alonzo are together again after they teamed up in “Start Up.” But now, Alden is the host while Bea is one of the judges in “Battle of the Judges,” that started last Saturday. It was bruited about that they have a rift and this is the reason their movie was shelved. But both Alden and Bea denied they have a gap between them.

“The movie didn’t push through because we both got busy with other projects,” says Bea.

“I tried theater and did a musical. Now, I’m supposed to do a drama series with Dennis Trillo.”

“We really don’t know how that rumor started,” says Alden. “Ako, I got busy with my movie with Sharon Cuneta na ipapalabas sa December filmfest. Proof na wala kaming gap, heto at magkasama kami sa ‘Battle of the Judges’.”

The show is the newest battleground for Filipino talent. It has various levels and the last one is “The Ultimate Battle” or the championship round. “I’ve seen how the judges work,” says Alden. “Hanga ako kasi talagang they really take their work in guiding their own team seriously. Kaya nga tinawag na ‘Battle of the Judges’ ito kasi hindi lang ‘yung contestants ang nagko-compete but also the judges themselves, making the whole show very engaging from start to finish.”

Two new Vivamax bombshells are together in “Bisyo!,” a movie about how vice can ruin people: Ataska and Angelica Hart.

Ataska plays Liza, the supportive and loyal girlfriend of Gold Aceron, while Angelica plays Joanna, the wild and carefree girlfriend of Aerol Carmelo. Do they have any vices in real life?

“Good girl ako,” says Ataska. “I don’t smoke, but I drink tequila occasionally. Siguro, my vice now is to watch Vivamax. And shopping, not expensive items, naman basta it suits my personal style. And social media rin kasi I’m on, 24 hours, but it’s part of our job naman in showbiz.”

“Ako, siguro, lalaki!” says Angelica. “Joke. But mula nang natuto akong magkaroon ng crush, tapos napasama ako sa group chats, mga lalaki ang nagtuturo sa’kin ng mga bisyo.

Dito, my charater Joanna is liberated na babae. Mahilig siya sa shoes and in real life, mahilig din ako sa shoes.”

We ask Ataska the reaction she has gotten for going sexy in “Bugaw.” “Ang pinakamahirap na reaction is from friends and family, like my aunts who even called my mom and cannot accept my decision. They ask, bakit ka nag-Vivamax? My mom tells them it’s my career move, but I feel that I don’t have to explain anything to them, kasi this is my decision as I want to explore what I can do as an actress.”

How about Angelica, how daring can she go? “After I did ‘Pantaxa’ star searhc, nawalan na ako ng limitations. Basta maganda ang role, todo na to!”
