MELAI Cantiveros is amused each time writers would ask her if she and husband Jason Fernandez have split.

“Kung minsan, nakakapikon, pero tinatawanan ko na lang,” she says at the press con of her show “Ur Da Boss” for Pie Channel. “Bakit wala raw siya sa picture naming mag-iina nung mag-birthday ako out of town? Wala siya kasi hindi siya nakasama dahil meron siyang inaasikaso. May negosyo kasi kami na siya ang in charge. Basta kaming mag-asawa, okay na okay kami. Decision niya ‘yung wag munang mag-active sa showbiz.”

She feels sad some folks judgeJason as a negligent husband. “Hindi naman totoo ‘yun.

Hindi nila kasi alam kung gaano kabait si Jason as husband and father. Para sa kanya, laging una ang pamilya namin. Pero sabi ko nga sa kanya, huwag na lang kumibo. Basta ang importante, alam namin ang totoo na okay kami.”

According to her, Jason is a very good family man. “Hindi siya nakikialam sa kita ko, kasi alam niyang I help my family, my parents, and okay lang yun sa kanya. Ganoon kabait ang mister ko.”

“Ur Da Boss” is a game show where the viewers are the real boss. Using their cellphones or any device, they can choose the job order that they want the studio player to do. The contestants are called Katro-PIE and they can win as much as much P20,000 or even more.

“Ur Da Boss” is seen weeknights at 7.

“I’m flattered, of course, but only the fans can tell if that’s true – Marco Gallo’

MARCO GALLO
and HEAVEN PERALEJO

Marco Gallo is so happy he moved to Viva from ABS-CBN as he is now doing one project after another.

“It’s really with Viva that I got to hone my craft as an actor in doing movies like ‘Kitty K7,’ ‘Gluta’ and ‘Manananggal na Nahahati ang Puso,’ plus the series ‘Di Na Muli’ with Julia Barretto,” he says. “And now in ‘The Rain in España’ with Heaven Peralejo and we are so happy as it’s a hit on Viva One and also on TV5 where it’s now shown every Sunday.”

What can he say to predictions he will replace James Reid as Viva’s hottest male star and his love team with Heaven will replace the James-Nadine Lustre tandem?

“I really don’t know,” he laughs. “I’m flattered, of course, but only the fans can tell if that’s true, if they continue to support me and our love team ni Heaven. As for Viva, we cannot complain as we can feel they’re really backing us up. ‘The Rain in España’ has yet to complete its ten-episode run and we’re now shooting a new movie to keep up the momentum. This is a romantic comedy, ‘Ship Show,’ directed by hitmaker Jason Paul Laxamana. So sana nga, their predictions will all be true.”

So now they’re very close after working with each other, what’s the real score between them? “Well, right now, we can say we are really enjoying each other’s company. We are comfortable na, so we can openly talk about our life, our dreams and aspirations. When we act together, we bring out the best in each other. But we’re not rushing things. For me, there’s more beauty in taking things slow. I love getting to know her a little bit more every day.”

Director Bobby Bonifacio did several full-length films for Viva like “Tahan,” “Bula,” and “Salamat Daks.” He now helms his first mini-series, “Sex Hub,” which has four episodes that will start airing on Sunday, June 4. How is it directing a mini-series for the first time?

“Siempre mas mahirap gawin kasi four episodes, maraming subplots at mas maraming characters,” he says. “But we shot it nang parang pelikula. All the four episodes were shot in six days. Naghahabol kami sa budget at sa oras, but we did it naman.”

He says this is his most daring work so far. “Yes, ito ang pinakamatapang na ginawa ko so far dahil marami talagang sex scenes, which is needed in the story. Pero salamat din na matatapang ang mga artista ko at cooperative, kaya nagagawa namin ang mga mapapangahas na eksena sa series.”

He is handling a big ensemble cast led by Micaella Raz as the lead character named Carmin, who becomes a sex slave in a sex den called Sex Hub, Joko Diaz as her dad and Karl Aquino as her boyfriend. Supporting them are AJ Oteyza, Yda Manzano, Jason Evans, Salome Salvi, Shiena Yu, Chester Grecia, Caira Lee and Roi Alonte.

“Marami sa kanila mga baguhan and I wish I got to know them all better muna before we started shooting,” says Direk Bobby. “But we were pressed for time, so trabaho na agad kami. Ang mga bagong artista, they really need guidance throughout every scene, so we’d give a little more time for their motivation . It’s good they all listen and they understand kapag may kailangang mapagalitan. They know it’s all part of the process.”
