SANYA Lopez reprises her role as Maya, the love interest of Bong Revilla as Major Gabriel Labrador in “Agimat ng Agila, Season 2”. But hers is billed only as a special participation.
She had to bow out from the show’s locked in taping as she had to transfer to the taping of her own show where she plays the title role, “First Lady”, Book 2 of the blockbuster hit, “First Yaya”.
She won’t reveal what will happen to her character. “Basta si Maya, mas nag level up ang pagmamahal niya rito kay Gabriel kasi sa Season 1, nag-meet pa lang sila. Ngayon, dito sa Season 2, sila na talaga, kaya mas matindi na ang relationship nila sa isa’t isa. Pero malay nyo, sa Season 3, bumalik pa uli ang character ni Maya at sana, mabigyan din ako ng action scenes later.”
Sen. Bong has nothing but praises for her, saying his prediction that she will be a big star came true and he is so happy with her success.
“I’m so flattered sa mga papuri niya sa akin. Nakakahiya na galing pa sa kanya ‘yan. But honestly, hindi ko pa napi-feel ang sinasabing big star na ako. Siguro, ang ibang tao ang magsasabi noon.”
What can she say that she’s part of the Chosen 8, the first batch of Kapuso stars to be pushed by Sparkle?
“Siempre, sobrang nagpapasalamat ako kasi marami ang magaling at maganda and yet, napili nila ako. In return, kaming mga napili, dapat lang na galingan namin at hindi namin sirain ang tiwalang ibinigay ng Sparkle sa amin. Pero ang Sparkle naman, hindi lang para sa aming walo but for all the other Kapuso talents who dream to sparkle. Their turn will also come.”

Diego Loyzaga is still in the USA when he attended the Zoom press con of his latest film with Vivamax, “The Wife,” where he plays the role of a philandering husband.
“I enjoyed my role kasi different level of heavy drama ang ni-require nito,” he said. “My wife is Louise de los Reyes, then I met my former kababata and best friend, played by Cara Gonzales. Matagal kaming ‘di nagkita then when we meet again, she’s very aggressive, and we have an affair. My wife learns about it, and me as the cheating husband, nagkasakit naman ako. Very challenging ang role ko and maraming heartbreaking scenes. We have to make pagpag after each scene para hindi mo maiuwi ng bahay.”
How is it working with Louise? “We’ve worked before in ‘Encounter’ but si Cristine Reyes ang kapareha ko roon. Si Louise is really magaling. I saw how she works and she’s a great actress kasi she knows her character very well. In our dramatic confrontation scenes, she’s giving 100 percent of herself all the time and we get carried away sa mga eksena.”
How about Cara Gonzales?
“First time ko to work with Cara and we have sexy bed scenes. I would talk to her before doing each scene to ask how can we do our scenes better. For the first time, I agreed to show my butt in a love scene.”
Their director, Denise O’Hara was very supportive in guiding him and Cara in their difficult scenes.
“I’m really thankful that Direk Denise explains to us, not only sa sexy scenes but sa drama scenes, if she wants us to do more or do less of a scene. I really appreciate it when she tells us to put more effort here or bawasan mo rito. I noticed and felt na mas maalaga si Direk Denise kaysa male directors. In my family, I’m surrounded by women and I like the maternal vibe of Direk Denise and her cinematographer, Miss Lee. I’m at home with both of them. Direk Denise is very encouraging, hindi siya nagagalit at all. She’s a sweetheart.”
A lot of people were surprised when he suddenly flew to the USA before Christmas and tongues started wagging, saying he has broken up with girlfriend Barbie Imperial after he was linked to AJ Raval, which he quickly denied.
“Barbie is not with me because this US trip was not planned at all,” he said. “I booked my ticket today, then I left the next day. It’s easy for me kasi I have a blue passport from Australia, which doesn’t require a US visa, and Barbie can’t come with me kasi wala siyang US visa. It’s my first time in the US. After making one movie after another, I just felt I deserve this break. When I come back, tatapusin ko pa ‘yung movie ko with Nadine Lustre, ‘Greed,” directed by Yam Laranas.”
