A lot of celebrities are trying their hand at politics for the first time.

And móst often than not, they have not beíªn spared from controversy, with several issues ranging from their qualification to their background hounding them in the political realm.

For senator, we have first timers Raffy Tulfo, Herbert Bautista, Monsour Del Rosario III, and Robin Padilla. It is not the first rodeo for Herbert, Monsour and Robin, as they have all ran campaigns before. However, Robin did not win on his first try for the post of Nueva Ecija vice governor. Meanwhile, former Vice President Noli De Castro (who also served in the senate) and former Senator Jinggoy Estrada are on their comeback bid.

In the lower house, the first timers include Arjo Atayde, Jolo Revilla, Angelica Jones, Anjo Yllana, and Richard Gomez. Richard Yap will try again after his loss in 2019.

In the race for partylist representatives, among those who are in the running are Karla Estrada (Tingog Sinirangan), Nora Aunor (NORAA), Mocha Uson and Michelle Gumabao (Mothers for Change), Shamcey Supsop (ARTE), and Tom Rodriguez (Anak Maharlikang Pilipino).

In the vice gubernatorial race, board member Alex Castro is running in Bulacan, Jerico Estrada is running in Laguna, and EJ Falcon is running in Mindoro.

Celebrities are also aiming for positions in the cities and municipalities. They are: Angelu de Leon in Pasig, Aiko Melendez, Ali Forbes, and Bobby Andrews in Quezon City, and PBA teammates James Yap and Don Allado in San Juan.
