Thank God, as latest report from Mother Lily Monteverde’s camp is that she’s doing well.

“Kailangan talaga niya ang matinding pahinga,” said our source. “After all, she’s now 82 years old.”

Surely, she’ll be missed by Senator Win Gatchalian, who is running for reelection.

It was because of Mother Lily that we met Senator Win six years ago.

Mother Lily invited members of the entertainment media to a press con for Senator Win.

Many, including yours truly, were not familiar with him.

At the event, Mother Lily talked about him well and assured the showbiz press that he will do the country a lot good, should he win.

And he did.

Henceforth, though, we never had the chance to meet him again. We wonder if Senator Win knows that Mother Lily is sick. And has he visited her?

‘Even Edu’s son, host Luis Manzano, admitted to being surprised by the romance.’

EDU MANZANO and CHERRY PIE PICACHE

Everyone is reacting differently to the romance between senior showbiz personalities Edu Manzano and Cherry Pie Picache.

They have, after all, been around the block. They have known each other for many years and have worked together in projects past and present. How come they only fell for each other now?

But as one kibitzer muttered: “Ganyan naman ang pag-ibig. Hindi mo inaasahan. And when it does, it just simply hit you like mad.”

Even Edu’s son, host Luis Manzano, admitted to being surprised by the romance.

“Sobrang we were caught off guard. No one saw it coming. I don’t even think Dad and Tita Pie saw it coming,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.

Edu, 66 and Cherry Pie, 51, are currently in the US. When they will be back is anybody’s guess.

Speaking of Luis, he and wife Jessy Mendiola are busy making sure that they fulfill their promise to Luis’ mom, politician-actress Vilma Santos-Recto, to make her a lola.

Vilma, who is currently Lipa representative, has said she is ready to spoil her grandchild to bits. She will not be running for re-election. It is her husband, Senator Ralph Recto, who will run for her current post.

Senator Ralph is on his third term.

Senator Bong Revilla has two former beauty queens for his leading ladies in the second book of “Agimat ng Agila.”

These are Rabiya Mateo and MJ Lastimosa, both winners of the Miss Universe crown.

Rabiya has already shot some scenes with Senator Bong, who noted that she is good.

“She told me beforehand that she prepared for the role,” Senator Bong said. “Ayaw daw niyang mapahiya.

“Well, thank you, Rabiya.”

Sanya Lopez is returning in the series.

All three beautiful actresses, according to Senator Bong, will do action scenes with him.

“Sa totoo lang dahil sa ang se-sexy ng mga leading ladies, my director (Aloy Adlawan) suggested that I trim down,” said the actor-politician. “Well, I’m glad I did.”

It was a happy sixth birthday for Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes’ daughter, Zia, as she got her wish to have a teddy bear-themed birthday.

Her only regret was that her dad was absent because he is currently in a lock-in taping for a new assignment for GMA 7.

“The cast is impressive.” Dingdong said. “And to reckon with ang director. Kaya excited ako sa project.”

Dingdong is also excited about his first commercial with Zia for an online shopping site. No less than noted directors Cathy Garcia-Molina and Dan Villegas directed it.
