‘And of course, excited ako makita sarili ko sa big screen kasi iba talaga ang feeling nakikita sarili mo sa big screen — Nadine Lustre’

For a while, it seemed like Nadine Lustre had turned her back on movies and was more focused on her music. However, having been assigned challenging roles as in “Greed,” and now “Deleter,” Nadine seems raring to act.

At a recent press con at SM The Block’s Director’s Club last Tuesday, Nadine expressed her excitement about returning before the cameras.

“Na-miss ko rin po pala ang acting. Actually, nung ginawa ko yung ‘Greed,’ dun ko na realize na na-miss ko talaga ang pag-arte. And of course, excited ako makita sarili ko sa big screen kasi iba talaga ang feeling nakikita sarili mo sa big screen, but sobrang grateful kasi ‘yung pagiging film fest entry ng ‘Deleter,’ biglaan po siya. We really didn’t expect it.

Nung nalaman namin, excited po kami,” she said.

It was an easy yes when she heard the pitch of “Deleter” director Mikhail Red. This was even before knowing that she will be starring in a Metro Manila Film Festival entry.

“My favorite genre in movies is horror,” admitted the actress. “Nung prinesent ni Direk yung project, talagang na excite ako. It’s something I have never done before. I was just really excited because this is my first time to do a full-length horror project.”

“Deleter” is a psycho-thriller where Nadine plays Lyra, a content moderator. The role presented a different challenge because Nadine had to react to images that were supposed to be flashed on the screen but were not there while shooting.

“It was really, really exhausting when we were shooting it, kasi kadalasan kaeksena ko ‘yung monitor screen,” she continued. “Ang raming kailangang mag work sa akin, ‘yung imagination ko, physical and emotional as well. But sobrang na-enjoy ko po ang shooting.”

It’s a difficult role because being a content moderator is really hard, explained Direk Mik.

“Sila ‘yung first line of defense, frontliners who filers everything we see, they are the ones who see horrific videos or photos na bawal nating makita online, according to the guidelines ng social media platforms… It’s a very difficult job, mentally and psychologically and it’s a very interesting subject,” he said.

Also returning to the screen is Sarah Geronimo. The singer-actress will be back in “ASAP Natin ‘To” this Sunday, December 11 as an early Christmas treat to fans.

Sarah will perform her hit in the latest edition of “Sarah G Specials.”

There will also be a “vocal showdown” between Regine Velasquez and Anne Curtis.

Since marrying Matteo Guidicelli last February 2020, Sarah has decided to slow down on her TV guestings and recordings and focus on her personal life. Fans have been hoping that the singer-actress, who is turning 35 in July next year, will soon have a baby with hubby Matteo.

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) launched its “Usapang Responsableng Panonood (RP) at Parental Controls” at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City last December 6.

The event is under the RP (Responsible Viewership) Program which is the brainchild of MTRCB Chairperson Diorella Maria “Lala” Sotto-Antonio and a result of the Board’s continued advocacy toward Filipino viewer empowerment through Media and Digital literacy.

MTRCB Vice Chairman Nathaniel De Mesa opened the event and Board Member Maria Carmen Musngi discussed the guidelines and considerations behind the MTRCB Television (TV) ratings, while BM Federico Moreno shared with the participants the parameters and process behind the MTRCB Film ratings.

MTRCB Chairperson Sotto-Antonio, in her presentation on Responsableng Panonood, highlighted the role of parents in rearing the children, impressing that MTRCB exists to provide necessary guidance through fair warnings through MTRCB ratings and classification, however, ultimately, the parents are the ones who have the responsibility to guide the children.

One of the event’s highlights is the discussion of Ruben Hattari, Netflix’s Southeast Asian director of Public Policy which centered on Netflix’s in-app and web-based parental control features which aim to help parents manage their children’s viewing patterns and preferences.
