Extraordinarily amazing is how actress Krista Ranillo wants to describe her screen name, as her real name is Cristalle Lauren Tupaz Ranillo (now Lim).
“I owe it to my dad (referring to 1980s superstar Mat Ranillo III).
“He and my Mom (Linda Tupaz) were eager to have a son, whom they would call Kristo — yes, after a Lenten stage presentation that featured him in the title role.
“But then I was born. Thus, they named me Krista,” she continued, “Yes, Kris with a K.”
Krista’s dad is Mat III, named after his dad, Mat Jr. Mat is the first husband of actress-producer Gloria Sevilla.
Mat Jr. and Gloria were dubbed as King and Queen of Visayan Movies in their time for producing and starring in several hit Visayan films.
Mat Jr. was a lawyer. He would have turned politician had he not died in a plane crash in 1969.
Gloria remarried. She wed actor Amado Cortez (Arsenio Ruiz Padilla), who later became a diplomat.
Gloria died last month at the age of 90.
Amado is the son of Jose Padilla, Sr., who served as governor of Plaridel, Bulacan. He had seven siblings, including brothers Jose Padilla Jr., Carlos Padilla Sr. and Roy Padilla. The Padillas remain known in showbiz and politics. A descendant is current superstar Daniel Padilla.

Speaking of Daniel, the actor happily announces that next month, his new series with girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo, “2 Good 2 Be True,” will stream.
“Too good to be true it is,” Daniel said. “As Kathryn and I portray roles far different from the kind we’ve already been seen before.
“We are bolder this time. Parehong aggressive ang roles namin, na, at first nga, reluctant kami to do. Until we were called aside by director Mae Cruz-Alviar, who reminded us we are no longer young. Hindi puwedeng hanggang holding hands pa rin kami, she told us.
“Kathryn and I could only agree,” he continued. “Natulala kami both when, in real life, we were never allowed by her mom to go out minus a chaperone. Pero ngayon, puwede na, of course.”

Daniel and Kathryn have learned how to handle money. They were taught well by their elders.

Kylie had cried on a TV when she was randomly asked about separation and she had posted the word “Broken” in her social media account.
Meanwhile, Jake seemed to have accepted their fate. He wrote a lengthy post on Instagram. Part of his caption read: “I’ll hold on to all our precious memories together with so much value. This past 3 years of my life have certainly been the best. I say this with such a heavy heart but me and Kylie have decided to go our separate ways. I’m still proud of us because we didn’t want to break up in anger; we both wanted to be able to look back on our relationship with no bitterness — no anger and no regrets, only the good memories.
