In all her years in the beauty industry, hair and makeup artist Bambbi Fuentes has been known for having an eye for beauty. The beauty expert is one of the most recognizable names in showbiz. Name it, she has worked her magic on some of the biggest celebrities in the land.
“I am proud to say I handled all the biggest celebrities in their prime,” Bambbi said.
She is now proving that she has an eye for talent as well. Bambbi has put up her own stable of stars, Dragon Artist Management, with her partner Cristine Areola, who owns Bait Lehem -House of Bread.
Bambbi has coupled her new showbiz venture with her newfound talent — writing. She wrote the story of “Sugat sa Dugo,” an advocacy film about HIV/AIDS that stars some of Dragon’s artists, including Christa Jocson, Khai Flores, Shira Mae Tweg, and veterans Sharmaine Arnaiz and Janice de Belen. Incidentally, Janice was awarded best actress at the International Film Festival Manhattan. If Janice’s victory and the film’s inclusion in the international film festival are any indication, Bambbi continues to have the Midas’ touch.

Speaking of Janice, the actress has kept herself busy during the pandemic.
She continues to be very active on the small and big screens. And of course, she is mom to five kids, four of whom are still single and live with her. But even if the time comes her children leave the coop, the actress will not be idle.
“I have a lot of hobbies. Natatakot kasi ako kasi sabi nila kapag tumatanda ka at wala na ang mga anak mo sa ‘yo, magiging nagging parent ka. Ayokong maging ganun,” she related.
So if she’s not acting or going gaga over Song Joong Ki, she is doing crafts or caring for her dogs, cooking or cleaning.
“Natutuwa ako sa manual labor. Nag e-enjoy rin ako maglinis ng bahay. Minsan tuwang tuwa ako kasi feeling mo gumagaan ang bahay mo, gumaan pakiramdam mo. For me, my crafts are very therapeutic,” she said.
A child star who started acting at age 11, Janice shows no signs of slowing down.

Khai Flores and Shira Mae Tweg are thrilled to be working with Janice, who won an award for her performance in the film.

Newcomer Khai Flores was thrilled and nervous when he shared a scene with Janice in “Sugat sa Dugo.”
They play mother and child and at one point, the two were cheek-to-cheek as they were shedding tears.
“Hindi ko alam kung kikiligin ako or ano,” recalled Khai.
Khai is proud he was able to act alongside one of his screen idols. He knows he has a long way to go, but he is willing to do what it takes to make it in showbiz. Like for “Sugat sa Dugo,” he had to make love on screen with a woman and a man.
“Hindi naman ako namulat sa ganun. Fifty-fifty ang naramdaman ko, dapat tatanggi na ako pero sabi naman ni Direk Danni aalagan ako, so nung time na nasa bed na kami nung dalawang lalake nasa role naman, inalagaan naman ako,” he said.
Meanwhile, the baby-faced Shira Mae Tweg is unlike other wannabe actresses.
“Mas gusto ko po contravida. Inspiration ko po si Andrea Brillantes,” she said.
Shira plays the baby of the family in “Sugat sa Dugo.” Only 15, she found it extra hard to be emotional in the dramatic scenes.
“Very nakakakaba but it’s really heartwarming because it’s my first time to work with Miss Janice. Nakakainspire siya,” she said.
Like Khai, she is willing to do the work and is open to accepting kinds of roles. “Open lang sa lahat ng projects, kuha lang ng kuha.”
“Sugat sa Dugo” is showing in cinemas starting Sept. 28. It will have a red-carpet premiere on Sept. 22, 7 p.m. at SM North Edsa, Cinema 3.
