‘My daughter is now six and I promise na kapag teenager na siya, I will stop acting na and babawi ako sa kanila ng daddy niya. — Beauty Gonzales’
BEAUTY Gonzales is giving herself a deadline in showbiz. “I told my husband that in six years, I promise to retire. When I had my daughter kasi, bumalik ako agad sa work and since then, hindi na ako natigil. My daughter is now six and I promise na kapag teenager na siya, I will stop acting na and babawi ako sa kanila ng daddy niya.”

She’s so fortunate as she is never idle for so long with GMA. She is now in a new drama series about infidelity, “The Fake Life,” that starts airing on June 6.
“I’m happy na sunod-sunod ang work ko sa GMA after ‘Loving Miss Bridgette,’ ‘AlterNate‘ with Dingdong Dantes, and now, ‘The Fake Life’,” says Beauty, who just celebrated her 31st birthday on May 28. “I welcome working with award-winning actors like Ariel Rivera as my husband and Sid Lucero as the other man in my life. Nakaka-inspire silang katrabaho kasi pareho silang napakagagaling talaga. Dito, ako yung unfaithful wife, marupok, ako ang nagkamali.”
How did she celebrate her 31st birthday and what’s her birthday wish?
“We’re still in a lock-in taping for ‘The Fake Life’ in Pampanga, so was busy working on my birthday. Wala na akong wish kasi I’m so happy right now, sa career ko and sa family life ko. I just want to thank GMA as I’m very happy with them. So wala na ako talagang mawi-wish kundi, siguro, world peace.”

Joey Marquez is elated with his role in GMA-7’s new primetime series, “Bolera.” “Drama siya. I play the man who betrayed Al Tantay, the father of lead actress Kylie Padilla who used to be the top billiards champion and people thought nandaya siya when I’m the culprit. I felt so guilty about it that later on, I helped Kylie sa dream niyang maging kampeon sa bilyar gaya ng ama niya.”
At the show’s Zoom press con, Joey reveals that his daughter with Alma Moreno, actress-beauty queen Winwyn Marquez, is now officially engaged to the yet unnamed non-showbiz father of her baby daughter named Luna Teresita.
“Yes, nag-propose na officially ‘yung guy,” he adds. “Nagpaalam sa akin. But expected ko naman ‘yun kasi childhood sweethearts sila. Matagal na silang magkakilala, since Grade 4. Natigil lang kasi lumaki sila at naging magkaiba ang propesyon, pero nagkita uli at… ‘yun na.”
Joey says he can see that Winwyn really enjoys taking good care of her child. “Sabi ko nga sa kanya, bumalik na siya sa pagtatrabaho at iwanan niya yung baby sa akin. Kaso ayaw nga nilang ipahawak sa akin at baka raw itakbo ko. Sabi ko, kapag nakuha ko, hindi ko na sila papasukin dahil akin na ‘yun.”
Did he give any advice to the young couple?
“Ang sabi ko lang sa kanila, hindi madali ‘yung papasukin nilang bagay but ang decision, nasa sa kanilang dalawa. I can give advice about being a parent, but when it comes sa pagiging asawa, wala akong moral ascendancy diyan. So sabi ko, lahat ng paplanuhin at gagawin nyo, kailangang pag-usapan nyong mabuti. Kailangan, nagkakaisa kayo lagi sa decision.”

The two-year COVID pandemic no doubt affected everyone. We asked “Concert Queen” Pops Fernandez and her co-singers in the concert tour, “Four Kings & A Queen,” “Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala” Hajji Alejandro, “Romantic Pop Icon” Marco Sison, “Prince of Pop Ballads” Nonoy Zuñiga and hitmaker singer-songwriter Rey Valera, as to how the virus personally affected them.
“I took it as a time to reflect about life,” says Pops. “Why it had to happen. I learned to appreciate life more. Now, I’m glad it’s over at sana huwag na siya bumalik pa.”
“I took it as a chance to spend more time with my family,” says Hajji. “Tatlo na ang apo ko.
I was also able to record a new song, ‘Dati,’ which is perfect for looking back at our life then to appreciate the things we just took for granted.”
“During the pandemic, I was just staying sa probinsiya namin sa Laguna,” says Marco. “I had time in my hands at walang galawan, so nagtinda ako ng barbecue. But isinara ko na kasi masyadong matrabaho.”
“It’s a good thing natapos na ang pandemic kasi kaming singers, walang work, walang booking,” says Nonoy. “So ‘yung naiipon ko, nababawasan.”
“I’m an introvert so okay lang sa’kin when I’m alone at nasa bahay lang ako,” says Rey.
“But habang walang work, nag-aral ako through my computer. I also wrote a book, ‘The Rey Valera Story, Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko’.”
The “Four Kings & a Queen” US concert tour will start at the Northern California Graton Bay Area Resort & Casino on June 25.
