#47 needs 007 but I don’t think the British are eager to help!
TRACKING events as they unfold in the United Soviet States of America (USSA) gives me James Bond movie-like thrills, and to think that Donald Trump, President #47, hasn’t been in office more than a month.
Since taking his oath in an indoor venue to avoid the cold (they say) and the embarrassment of far too few people at the Mall (in stark contrast to the wintry Obama inauguration), #47 has done wonders for sleeping Constitutional and legal experts who have lived through over 200-plus years of once-in-a-blue moon drama.
Now it’s almost like once in a day!
Every society, I say, deserves such a jolt now and then. It gets the dust off the shelves and the cobwebs and fogs in the brains blown out. And there are still 47 months to go in this Presidency!
What makes this one especially thrilling is that there apparently is a co-President who even holds press conferences in the Oval Office, something none of the Founding Fathers ever imagined could and would happen.
Then again, none of them could have ever imagined owning a Tesla or using Starlink to beam up all their information into “the cloud.”
To be fair, there have been accusations of others playing the role of “co-President” before.
One time, a president was ill. But he would make decisions behind a closed door, with only his wife telling those outside the door what his decisions were. This was the case for Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President, and his second wife, Edith.
Eleanor Roosevelt was also known as a major player in the White House under Franklin (the 32nd President). As were Rosalyn Carter and Nancy Reagan, who followed each other into the White House under the 39th and 40th presidents. Most other First Ladies had their influence too, but were more circumspect about it.
Note, First Ladies. One indeed could expect a First Lady to wield influence on her husband.
But under #47, it isn’t Melania, who is now being seen as co-president.
It’s someone else, male, and an immigrant to boot.
This makes me recall those movies where a gathering of world leaders is shown while on a big screen appears the ultimate villain, a megalomaniac who has taken over the world’s information systems and demands ransom, otherwise he will blow up the world while escaping to an orbiting space station where he and his followers will live on.
Well, maybe in my scenario I put together the scenes in so many different movies and mixed the characters of James Bond villains like Max Zoroaster (A View to a Kill, 1095), Hugo Drax (Moonraker, 1979) and Elliot Carver (Tomorrow Never Dies, 1997). But you get my drift. When one individual and one organization get a hold of the information flow of one country, then that country is a putty in his hands.
And it’s a president who is a mere puppet on a string.
