CARMINA Villaroel’s new soap, “Abot Kamay na Pangarap,” replaces her husband Zoren Legaspi’s hit show, “Apoy sa Langit,” on GMA. She figures in a love triangle in the story with two leading men, Richard Yap and Dominic Ochoa who are both from ABS-CBN.

“I’ve worked with both of them before so we all know each other,” she says. “Pareho silang very professional kaya maayos kami lagi sa set. Hindi naman hard sell na love triangle itong ‘Abot Kamay na Pangarap’ kasi it focuses more on the love story between an illiterate mother and her genius daughter played by Jillian Ward. Very relatable ang story kaya viewers find it touching.”

“Nakakaiyak talaga ang kuwento ng teleseryeng ito,” confirms Richard Yap. “Maaantig talaga ang puso ng mga manonood. It’s more of a family-oriented show. Ako mismo, I’m so touched when I was watching our scenes in the show.”

For Dominic Ochoa, this is some sort of a comeback to GMA. “In 1996, I appeared in TGIS then napalipat ako sa kabila. At ngayon, muling nagbukas ang pintuan para sa akin dito and I’m happy about it. Nagpaalam naman ako sa ABS-CBN nang maayos and they approved it.”

Richard gets Carmina pregnant but abandons her. Dominic plays Carmina’s boss who falls in love with her. In turn, Richard Yap marries Pinky Amador who becomes very hostile to Carmina when she learns that Jillian’s dad is Richard. “Maraming twists ang story that will surely make it interesting for viewers,” adds Carmina.

Janelle Tee is in the Vivamax movie “The Escort Wife” that starts streaming on September 16 and in the series “An/Na” that starts streaming on September 25. In both the movie and the TV series, she plays a high-class prostitute. Is she afraid of being overexposed playing the same kind of role?

“Nagkataon lang na magkasunod ang release nila,” she says. “Pero kahit prostitute ang role ko in both projects, magkaiba pa rin sila. ‘Escort Wife’ is a full-length film while ‘An/Na’ is a four-part TV series. In ‘The Escort Wife,’ I’m a bored wife na napunta sa pagiging escort girl dahil she found out na her husband, Raymond Bagatsing, is cheating on her. It’s more of drama.”

“An/Na,” in turn, is a crime story. “Sa ‘An/Na’ naman, it’s a mystery/whodunit, kasi someone murders me in the series. I play a simple girl who works as a call center agent, si Anna Clemente. But being the breadwinner in their family, she’s always being pressured by her family to give them more money. So ayun, she’s forced to have a sideline to earn more money, using another identity named Mei Ling.”

Can she relate with the characters she plays? “Sa ‘Escort Wife,’ not really, kasi I’m not naman a wife yet. But in ‘An/Na,’ yes. Breadwinner siya and breadwinner din ako for my family. Dito, kawawa ang character ko kasi nape-pressure every time her family calls her to ask for money. I met some real escort girls as part of our research and I don’t wanna judge them. They have their own valid reasons why they got into this kind of work so hindi sila dapat basta hinuhusgahan.”
