MAJA Salvador has chosen to say goodbye to the Kapamilya Network, which has been her home since 2003 when she did her first acting job in the soap “It Might Be You.” She has since played lead roles in various teleseryes like “Ina Kapatid Anak,” “Wild Flower,” “Killer Bride.”
Maja revealed she will join former Star Magic head Johnny Manahan or Mr. M in a new show for TV5. It wasn’t easy for ABS-CBN to let them go but, let’s face it, actors go where there is sure work for them.
Mr. M is said to be handling several shows for TV5 as offered by blocktimer Bright Light Productions of former Rep. Albee Benitez. This includes a weekend show, tentatively called “Sunday Noontime Variety Show” and a gag show, “Laugh Out Loud.”
Maja also just reached a milestone when her YouTube channel got a total of one million subscribers. She celebrated it with her fiance, Rambo Nuñez, and posted photos of their street food party on her vlog.

Alden Richards is happy that fans who used to want him to be paired only with Maine Mendoza are now more open-minded as they signify their approval of his pairing with Jasmine Curtis-Smith in the GMA-7 anthology, “I Can See You,” that started airing last night, Sept. 28.
“I Can See You” will feature four different stories each week. Their inaugural presentation is “Love at the Balcony” starring Alden and Jasmine.
Alden plays Gio, a world-weary wedding videographer who feels creatively drained. His friend and business partner, Val (Pancho Magno) encourages him to find someone who will inspire him. Then the corona lockdown happens and Gio is forced to stay in his condo unit.
While sauntering in their condo’s common balcony, he meets by chance the lovely Lea (Jasmine), a frontliner who works as a nurse. Romance blooms between Gio and Lea amidst the pandemic.
“Jasmine and I have worked together before in the movie ‘Imagine You & Me,’ but we got to get to know each other better now dahil lock-in ang taping namin dito sa ‘Love at the Balcony,’ walang uwian,” said Alden. “We practice all the safety protocols on the set to make sure no one gets the virus, pero may time pa ring magkuwentuhan. Jasmine is such a good conversationalist and I really enjoyed working with her dahil napakagaling din niyang aktres. Don’t miss our show on ‘I Can See You’ as we assure you it’s a feel-good love story na hindi kayo magsisisi.”

Sofia Pablo, who plays Lenlen in “Prima Donnas,” will no longer be a part of the comebacking hit afternoon soap in its fresh new episodes that they are now taping. Understandably, Jillian Ward and Althea Ablan, who play her sisters Mayi and Ella in the show, are both very sad about it.
“Siempre po, sobrang mami-miss namin siya,” said Jillian. “Kasi 14 years old pa lang siya at ang requirement daw ng DOLE, kailangang 15 years old and above lang ang puedeng mag-work habang may pandemya.”
“Nakakalungkot kasi hindi na kami kumpleto,” said Althea. “Kami ni Jillian, we’re both 15 na. Siya sa April pa po siya magpi-15 years old. Palalabasin na lang daw po sa story na nawawala muna siya. Kung sakaling papalarin kami at ma-extend ang show hanggang next year, baka puede pa naman po siyang bumalik.”
This is the official statement issued by GMA about it: “It is with a heavy heart that GMA Entertainment Group announces that Sofia Pablo will no longer be part of the upcoming fresh episodes of the Afternoon Prime drama series ‘Prima Donnas.’
“This is in strict compliance to the guidelines of the Department of Labor and Employment on the engagement or participation of a child below 15 years of age during the implementation of community quarantine.”

‘We think Tony should just have followed in the footsteps of Piolo Pascual, who has opted to keep silent even after the scandalous allegations of BB Gandanghari against him.’
Tony Labrusca cannot be blamed for playing it safe. He earlier wrote something in his social media account making a concrete denial that he is having a romance with new actor JC Alcantara, his love interest in the Boys Love iWant series, “Hello Stranger.” There was a backlash since some gullible fans seem to want their romance to be true.
We can understand Tony’s stance since it would not be wise for a still relatively new actor to be branded as gay early in his career. We’re sure there are many gay fans of the so-called BL series, but we’re even more sure that he will make it bigger with regular fans of both male and female sexes since there are a lot more heterosexual viewers than gay ones. Can you follow what we’re saying about this matter?
We’re not surprised Tony is hesitant about cultivating a screen partnership with JC Alcantara because, as it is, he’s already being talked about as a closet gay. When he had a controversial altercation at the airport then, he was coming home from abroad with Alex Diaz, who later admitted he’s bisexual and is now doing his own BL series. This fanned the rumors that Tony’s gay all the more. Maybe he should have not done the BL series anymore as it only added more fuel into the fire.
In his latest vlog entry, Tony expressed his feelings about the unending gay rumors about him: “The thing is I get frustrated when people focus on my sexuality. It makes me feel like no amount of work or accomplishment that I’ve done matters. I feel it gets undermined.
Because people want to focus on my sexuality, instead of my capability. So that’s where my frustration comes in. I don’t mind people assuming this about me. (Which obviously, is not true, because how come he’s now explaining himself?)
“At the end of the day, whether people like it or not, whether it comes to who you’re dating, the truth is always behind closed doors. I love it when people make this type of assumptions about me, because it means people are intrigued by me. But for me, I don’t identify myself as homosexual.”
His explanation is actually very, very long and we chose to quote only the significant parts.
We think Tony should just have followed in the footsteps of Piolo Pascual, who has opted to keep silent even after the scandalous allegations of BB Gandanghari against him.
We think Tony should just have kept the public guessing, rather than mightily explaining himself, making him seem defensive.
