Stars admit anxiety about resuming work

‘No one is truly fully safe and other stars have made the same decision as Liza.’

LIZA Soberano confesses she’s the main reason why her drama series “Make It With You” was discontinued. She admits she is having anxiety attacks about resuming taping for the show because she might be infected.

We have to agree with her that it will be truly risky and we can’t blame her for her decision.

The same goes for the other Kapamilya teleserye that was also cancelled, “Pamilya Ko,” where the lead actress, Sylvia Sanchez, became COVID infected.

No one is truly fully safe and other stars have made the same decision as Liza. Julia Montes and Nadine Lustre have backed out from the Dreamscape project “Burado” due to their own health concerns.

On GMA, Marian Rivera has also expressed her reluctance to continue taping for her new show, “First Yaya,” which pairs her for the first time with the ageless Gabby Concepcion.

She’s worried not just about herself but also her two kids, Zia and Ziggy. If she’d be required to go taping inside a lockdown set that will require her to stay there without going home for several days, then it would be really problematic for her as she’s a hands-on mom to her two babies who both need a mother’s personal attention.

Gabbi Garcia is elated that the “Encantadia” being re-shown now after “24 Oras” is rating so well that fans of the Sanggres continue to connect with her and her co-stars through social media. This made her recall the time she was recruited to play the role of Sanggre Alena in the show four years ago.

“Very special sa akin ang moment na ‘yun kasi ‘yung ang biggest break ko sa showbiz,” she says. “I never thought mapipili ako to play Alena so I have this special connection with the character. I remember na sabaysabay kaming tinawag na members ng final cast, led by Glaiza de Castro as Pirena, Sanya Lopez as Danaya, Kylie Padilla as Amihan and sina Rocco Nacino and Ruru Madrid as our leading men, Aquil and Ybarro.”

And what is she doing while we’re on lockdown?

“I’m redecorating our place at nawiwili akong mag-shopping ng home decor online. Parang hobby ko na ang mag-shop online looking for bargains so I can share these tipid tips sa viewers ng aking vlog.”

She’s very careful when shopping. “Ang akala kasi ng most Pinoys, kapag artista ka, magastos ka and you prefer expensive stuff, pero hindi naman talaga. Ang sarap sa feeling na nakakabili ka ng alam mong maganda pero praktikal at hindi masyadong expensive while shopping online. Kaya sine-share ko sa vlog ko kung saan puede makabili ng magaganda, may quality but murang home decors.”

Gabbi was also recently a guest in Andre Paras’ own vlog, “Shout Out Andre.” “Batchmate kami as a Kapuso at marami na kaming shows na pinagsamahan, like ‘Encantadia,’ ‘Sherlock Jr.’ and ‘Pamilya Roces’ kaya when he asked me to be a guest sa vlog niya, pumayag agad ako. We recalled ‘yung memorable experiences namin while working, like noong tamaan ko si Sanya Lopez ng hawak kong espada sa isang fight scene. Nakakahiya talaga.”

Andre said it was he who encouraged Gabbi to cultivate her music career. “You mentioned something na ‘I don’t think nobody will know that I can sing.’ And I was like, ‘Just keep on singing, one day, you’re gonna be on stage.’ Next thing I know, ayun na nga, you’re on stage na and now you even have your own prod.”

Some weeks ago, we asked for prayers for Lilia Dizon, the mother of Pinky, Christopher and Melissa de Leon who was a topped LVN Pictures star in the 1950s doing lead roles in films like “Venus,” “Bathaluman,” “Tucydides,” “Kandelerong Pilak” (for which she won a best actress in the Asian Film Festival held in Cambodia), “Sanda Wong,” etc.

Last Monday morning, June 15, her daughter, Toni Abad, posted this in her social media account: “The angels are rejoicing! Mom is now worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ not by faith, but by sight. She is now with our father God in heaven. No more pain, no more tears, no more suffering, She left us at exactly 8:20 this morning. I’m posting this with much sorrow because I will miss her. I love you Mom! Rest In Peace in the hands of our creator.”

Her remains were cremated the same day at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig.

Toni wrote this tribute for her mom: “To Stars admit anxiety about resuming work Mario E. Bautista ‘No one is truly fully safe and other stars have made the same decision as Liza.’ Pinky, Christopher, Melissa (children with Lilia’s first marriage to LVN actor Gil de Leon who also succumbed to the big C), Corrie and I (her daughters with her second marriage to Antonio Abad), she was simply Mom. But above all she loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart and soul. She was always giving honor and praise to God even during the final days of her life.

“She often said that nothing can ever separate her from the love of God. When she couldn’t read the Bible anymore I made a vow that I would read it to her every night. Those are the most precious nights that I will always treasure in my heart.”
