‘She’s one star who thinks smart and is quite articulate. She’s not afraid of expressing her opinion’
JANINE Gutierrez joined showbiz only after she got a college degree from Ateneo, so it’s not surprising that she’s one star who thinks smart and is quite articulate.
She’s not afraid of expressing her opinion and she posted in Instagram her feelings about the ongoing race riots in America and Duterte’s determination to push the anti-terrorism bill in congress: “No one is free when others are oppressed #BLACKLIVESMATTER #JUNKTERRORISMBILL NOW!”
In the caption, she wrote: “Hi everyone. I hope you’re all staying safe on this first day of GCQ. I know there’s a lot of alarming things going on right now and everyone’s priority is health and livelihood. Apart from these, there are also a lot of developments in our country and around the world and it’s important to stay informed. I asked in a poll yesterday if you’ve heard of the Anti-Terrorism Bill in the Philippines and about half haven’t, so as a small community here, I’m sharing what I’ve gathered from other sources.
“There’s a highlight on my page about the bill and if you have any information to share, about this or any other current events in our bayanihan efforts, let me know too! We can help each other understand the things going on around us and look out for each other and our future in the process.”
But naturally, some folks are against her views but others show their support of her. As one appreciative netizen wrote: “Thank you for bringing this issue to a wider audience for a more rigorous public debate. That’s what we really need.”
Another celebrity who frowns on the Anti-Terrorism Bill is Solenn Heussaff, who wrote in her own social media account: “#JUNKTERRORBILL! UPHOLD HUMAN RIGHTS!”
Now, can we hear from other stars about their take on this very important issue? How about Kim Chiu?

Chynna Ortaleza is now an expert in cooking, being the caring wife of actor-singer Kean Cipriano and mom to their two kids. She says she owes her culinary skills now to Chef Boy Logro who taught her a lot when they started hosting together the cooking show, “Idol sa Kusina,” that is seen on GMA News TV every Sunday night.
“Blessing talagang ako ang ginawang co-host niya kasi before, I didn’t really know much about cooking,” she revealed. “What’s nice about Chef Boy is he’s a very patient teacher. Sinasabi niya sa akin lagi na practice lang daw ang kailangan at huwag ako matakot mag-experiment. After a year with ‘Idol sa Kusina,’ dun ko na-feel na I gained confidence after assisting Chef Boy.”
Even her hubby Kean is so amazed at how good she is in concocting yummy dishes in their home kitchen. Chynna and Kean are one of the young couples in showbiz who has a stable marital relationship and they attribute this to doing everything together. As a matter of fact, they even got to compose an original song collaborating with each other.
“The title of the song is ‘Sulyap’ or glance in English,” says Chynna. “One night, we had dinner and while walking back to our car, he sang to me the opening line of the song. Dinugtungan ko naman and when we got home, nabuo namin ‘yung song.”
You can now watch them perform “Sulyap” at the IGTV of Chynna in her Instagram account. Meantime, Chynna is happy to be part of a new online talk show launched by GMA Artist Center. This is titled “#Usapang Artista” and she will be with other Kapuso stars: Benjamin Alves, Gabby Eigenmann, Psalms David, Elle Villanueva and former beauty queen Sophia Senoron.
This will start airing this coming Saturday, June 6, on the official Facebook page of GMA Artist Center. The first topic they will discuss is “How Do You Feel?” This is a very important topic in this time of the pandemic when things have changed and our lives have become more complicated.

Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla celebrated their eighth anniversary as sweethearts on May 26, which means they’re now the most durable young love team in local showbiz who really became an item in real life. What’s nice about the fans of the KathNiel love team is that they don’t just indulge in useless activities concerning their idols. Instead, to celebrate the eighth anniversary of KathNiel, they gave away food packs to homeless people in Manila.
No less than the Manila Public Information Office acknowledged this in social media, saying: “Look: The KathNiel Fandom donated 400 food packs to the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW). The donation is intended for street dwellers sheltered by the MDSW at the Fugoso Sports Complex.”
Now, wouldn’t you say this is very constructive compared to the fans of other love teams who just quarrel among themselves or pick a fight with the supporters of rival love teams? Meantime, the KathNiel fans are wondering as to when they will see their idols together again on the same screen.
Their last movie, “The Hows of Us,” was made two years ago yet while their last soap, “Luna Sangre,” was three years ago. We know director Cathy Molina has a new romantic drama meant for them entitled “After Forever” but shooting this would have to wait until the pandemic is over. ABS-CBN also has a new soap for them, titled “Tanging Mahal,” but this, too, would have to wait until such time that the Kapamilya Network has gotten back its franchise renewal and returned to normal operations.

Kim Chiu became incomprehensible again in an online interview about her sad experience with her “Classrom Law” brouhaha that produced the song “Bawal Lumabas.” She shared that she was really badly affected by the bashers who bullied her after she failed to put across her exact thoughts about the ABS-CBN franchise renewal. No doubt she was able to recover with the help of her song. But during a recent interview, Kim once again made some statements that were hard to decipher. She was asked about her reaction to the song’s success and, as one, netizen said, “sumabit na naman si Kim.”
This is what she said: “Para akong nabuhayan na, na, na natayo ko ‘yung… natayo… na para siyang umikot, not 360…360 parang oy dito tayo, punta tayo dito. ‘Yung ganon, ‘yung ‘di ko naman. From a stranger, from stranger ‘yung nangyari.”
As may be expected, this became viral and quickly circulated in the internet. It eventually reached Kim and she compared the basher to a pathetic classmate who just wants to shame others. “That feeling na ‘yung classmate mong hinihintay kang magkamali tas pagtatawanan na naman nila kahit nonsense na!! Daig niyo pang nag-aabang ng teleserye. ‘Wag ganun!”
Kim should not be onion-skinned as she herself is giving her bashers reason to criticize her.
As one netizen said: “Siya rin naman mismo ang nagbibigay ng bala para may ipambaril sa kanya.”
