MIGUEL Tanfelix and Derrick Monasterio are two of the actors chosen to be part of the first batch of Sparkle who will get a special push this year. Looks like the former love team of Miguel with Bianca Umali is now truly a thing of the past as Miguel is now paired with another Sparkle star, Ysabel Ortega, in two new shows, the sci-fi series, “Voltes V Legacy,” and the youth-oriented teleserye, “What We Could Be.”
So how does it feel to be part of Sparkle?
“We’re all excited kasi andaming plans ng network for us individually to shine more and so we’re looking forward to things that will help boost our careers in this new year,” he says.
So how does he maintain his sparkle?
“You have to keep on reinventing yourself, try doing new things that will excite your fans everyday. At para hindi mawala ‘yung spark, you should also do things that inspire you.’’
How about Derrick? How does it feel to be part of Sparkle?
“Just like the rest, I’m thrilled with the projects that GMA’s Sparkle has in store for us,” he says. “I offered a prayer to thank the Lord as this is a great blessing for me, for all of us to help our careers take off.”
How does he intend to maintain his sparkle? “You just have to constantly renovate yourself and be curious and open to new learnings and to take all things that Mr. Johnny Manahan as head is teaching you like a sponge.”
How does it feel working with all the seven other stars chosen by Sparkle in their batch?
“It’s good that we’re all friends. We really have to work hard para hindi masayang ang opportunity na itong ibinigay ng GMA sa amin. I know we will all support each other.
There’s no competition at all between us kasi we all love each other.”

Meantime, Heart’s primetime teleserye, “I Left My Heart in Sorsogon,” ends next week, to be replaced by Sanya Lopez’ “First Yaya” on February 14. “I want to thank all the televiewers who supported us from Day One,” says Heart. “All their positive comments about the show, how good the story is and how beautiful Sorsogon is, they all warmed my heart. And I’m also glad that GMA is very pleased with the show and its high ratings.

In the story, Heart plays Celeste, a native of Sorsogon who made it big as a fashion designer in Manila. She’s in a relationship with the rich Tonito (Richard Yap) in Manila, but when she returned home to Sorsogon, she meets again her first love, Mikoy (Paolo Contis), and something is rekindled between them.
The show’s followers are now divided as to who they would support: Paolo as Mikoy or Richard as Tonito?
“Nakakatuwa kasi may kanya-kanya silang team,” says Heart. “May Team Mikoy versus Team Tonito. Basta huwag nyo po kaligtaang subaybayan ang nalalabing last few episodes and I assure you kikiligin kayo sa ending nito. Promise!“

Rose Van Ginkel was seen in the Vivamax movies “Pornstar 1,” “Gluta,” “69 + 1” and “Deception.” She now plays the leading lady of former Hashtag dancer Wilbert Ross in the naughty sex comedy, “Boy Bastos,” to stream starting February 11.
She plays her sexiest role in the movie as she has a love scene with Wilbert. What made her consent to do it?
“Passion ko talaga ang acting,” she says. “I want to explore all the kinds of roles na puede kong gawin. Gusto ko talagang mapansin ang acting skills ko so tina-try ko itong pagpapa-sexy para tingnan kung kaya ko rin bang gawin.”
So she’s now more ready to do the kind of sexy movies that Vivamax releases regularly?
“Honestly, hindi pa ako 100 percent sure kung kaya ko na ba maging sexy star forever kasi may limitations pa rin ako. I always tell the director na ganitong level lang ang kaya ko.
Ayoko namang ipakita ang buong katawan ko.”
Can she relate to her role in “Boy Bastos”?
“Yes, I play Katy, a biology teacher. I can relate with her kasi maingat siya in dealing with people, like si Boy Bastos after she was warned na bastos nga ito. Like Katy, careful din ako when I meet other people. Ayokong may magawang mali kasi ayokong may masabi sila sa akin.”
Just like “Boy Bastos” who’s very adventurous in his sexual activities, did she ever experience experimenting about sex as a teenager?
“May kanya-kanya tayong level ng experimentation. Nadaanan ko naman ‘yun somehow, unforgettable moments na maaalala mo one day at matatawa ka na lang. Hindi naman masama ‘yun, part ng natural curiosity at part ng growing up.”
