RITA Daniela was congratulated by the press after the screening of her Metro Manila Film Festival entry, “Huling Ulan sa Tag-araw.” She deserves the acclaim as she really gives a crackerjack performance in the lead role of Luisa, a cheap dancer-singer in a club.

By chance, she meets Luis (Ken Chan), a prospective priest who’s currently on leave from the seminary. Luis makes it his mission to reform her, but falls in love with her in the process. The movie starts as a romcom, but towards the end, it takes a sharp turn and becomes an unabashed tearjerker.

“Thanks for all your good words,” she said during the press con that followed the screening. “I didn’t expect the movie to be that good. We shot this on location with Direk Louie Ignacio in Pagsanjan in August of last year. We’re the first local film to shoot during the pandemic.”

The movie is different from any teleserye they’ve made before. “’Yung mga hindi namin nagagawa on TV, we did it in this movie. May passionate bed scene kami ni Ken and I’m even shown kissing him from his chest, tummy, going down.”

Director Louie Ignacio butts in at this point. “Nakakatuwa si Rita kasi she’s very cooperative. Lahat ng pinagawa ko sa kanya, game na game siya. There’s one scene na nakalubog siya sa tubig at hindi makunan ng kamera ‘yung cleavage niya. Biglang hinubad niya agad ang suot niyang blouse. Ganun siya ka-daring dito.”

Some folks are saying she has a good chance of winning the Metro filmfest best actress award.

“Naku, hindi ko iniisip ‘yun. Ang mas gusto ko, sana panoorin ng mga tao sa sinehan ang ‘Huling Ulan sa Tag-araw’ when it opens in theaters on Christmas Day.”

We enjoyed “Pornstar 2” more than the first one. The four senior stars assigned to teach their new wards how to be sexy stars are more brazen this time in everything that their director, Darryl Yap, asked them to do. These are Alma Moreno, Rosanna Roces, Ara Mina and Maui Taylor.

The most hilarious sequence is the one where the director just allowed them to be themselves, sharing candid stories about their experiences during their heydays in their respective careers. The most shameless is Rosanna Roces. Even in “Pornstar 1,” it’s Osang who’s irrepressible in asking Alma about the size of her late partner Dolphy’s manhood.

In “Pornstar 2,” Osang asked who among the actors they’ve done a love scene who smells the best. They mentioned Daboy or Rudy Fernandez and Christopher de Leon and Osang made a special mention of Eric Quizon.

“When we did ‘Tina Moran,’ ambango-bango talaga ni Eric at hinahawak-hawakan ko ‘yung bayag niya,” says Osang.

And Alma asks: “O, may nangyari ba?”

And Osang replies: “Wala!”

Osang also had a big fight with Director Chito Roño. “In our movie ‘Babae sa Bintana,’ pinasasampal niya ako kay Richard Gomez apat na beses,” she says. “Gusto niya, totohanin. Anlaki ng kamay ni Goma, ‘di ba? So tinakpan ko talaga ‘yung pisngi ko. Hindi ko inalis ‘yung kamay ko. Galit na galit si Direk. The next day, may shoot kami uli, umoo ako, pero ang ginawa ko, nagpunta ako sa Hong Kong.”

Alma, Ara and Maui said they put on plaster to protect their private parts during love scenes, but Osang said she never wore any plaster during her time. “Ang hirap kaya noon, paano ka iihi?” she says. “At pag inalis, ansakit nun ano? Sasama ‘yung bulbol mo.”

What’s the most embarrassing scene they did?

“Ako ‘yung sa ‘Nympha’, habang naglalakad ako, hinuhubaran ako ng nanay ko. Andaming tao sa paligid so nakikita nila ako. Nakakahiya pero kailangan mong gawin,” Alma relates.

“Mas grabe ‘yung sa amin ni Gardo Versoza sa pelikulang ‘Kandungan’,” says Osang. “’Yung love scene namin, sa beach kukunan at 7 a.m. Pagdating namin dun, punong-puno na ng tao ang dalampasigan. Doon pa lang ako nag-plaster kasi sobrang dami ng tao talaga.”
