Usually kasi, since 2008, umaalis kami ng family ko to celebrate the holidays abroad,” he said. “But this year, we cannot travel due to the pandemic. So for a change, ma-e-experience ng mga bata ang Pasko natin sa Pilipinas. Iba rin kasi.”
Gabby just returned from his lock-in taping for GMA-7’s new primetime soap, “First Yaya,” where he is paired with Sanya Lopez.
“I know malaki ang fan base niya and now, gusto kong makarating sa loyal fans niya na I had so much fun working with their idol. Mga bata silang kasama ko rito, along with Cassy Legaspi who plays my daughter, kaya nahahawa ako sa energy nilang magtrabaho.”
He says they’ll resume lock in taping by January. “First leg pa lang ‘yung ginawa namin, for two weeks. Then after the Christmas holidays, we’ll do the second leg of our taping para marami kaming matapos na episodes. Ang target ng GMA is to start its telecast in March.”
Recently, his eldest daughter, KC Concepcion, posted their photos while they’re having dinner together in Makati. How is it seeing her again? “We had fun. Since magka-lockdown in March, nito lang November kami uli nagkita so antagal din. It’s so nice to see her again and keep in touch. She just came then from Cagayan to distribute relief goods sa mga taong nabiktima ng grabeng baha roon. I’m so proud of my daughter kasi she’s ready to help our kababayans who are in need.”

Shaina Magdayao plays her most daring role as Tanya, a carefree woman in “Tagpuan,” an entry in the Metro Manila Film Festival written by Ricky Lee and directed by McArthur Alejandre.
“Alfred here is married to Iza Calzado but hiwalay na sila,” she said. “Then he meets me in Hong Kong and we get into a relationship na for fun lang. We shot our scenes in Hong Kong sa mga lugar na hindi pa nakikita sa ibang movies, like ‘yung high rise condo buildings for the poor na marumi at magulo.”
She has a bedscene with Alfred.
“I did it kasi kailangan sa story. I trusted Direk Mac Alejandre as I know hindi naman laswaan lang ang gagawin naming eksena. Its script was written by Sir Ricky Lee who I admire so much and with whom I’m doing another movie, ‘Servando Magdamag’ directed by Lav Diaz.”
“Servando Magdamag” also stars her ex, John Lloyd Cruz.
“Hindi naman kami magkapareha. I’m just doing a short role, parang cameo, at wala rin namang problema kasi eight years ago pa since matapos kami at friends na kami uli. We’re very different people now and we’re now both happy with our respective lives.”
