MISS Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is one of the hosts of TV5’s “Sunday Noontime Live” or SNL and she got the most number of questions during the Zoom press con held to promote it with two other new shows, “Oh My Dad” and “I Got You,” all produced by Brightlight Productions of Cong. Albee Benitez.
The first question to Catriona is: Did you ask for any tips from boyfriend Sam Milby about hosting?
“Yes, he’s more seasoned as a host and a performer than me, so he has shared some valid pointers with me,” she answered. “I did some hosting in ‘It’s Showtime’ before, but I now also did some research on my own. I’ve watched several variety shows to study how others do it and see how I can come up with my own style of hosting.”
“Sunday Noontime Live” or SNL started airing last Sunday and Catriona excitedly shared the spotlight with her co-hosts: Piolo Pascual, Maja Salvador, Jake Ejercito and Donny Pangilinan. Catriona is also an accomplished singer so she did several musical numbers with them.
Off cam, Catriona continues her civic mission as a beauty queen to help local businesses in her own vlog with her Raise Your Flag series. Lots of local garment factories slowed down because of the pandemic and she helped them promote their products by personally promoting them in various places in our country. “I’m really so proud to promote uniquely Filipino made products to help local businesses and our countrymen,” she declared.

‘Buti na nga lang daw, ako ang kasama niya rito. — Jennylyn Mercado’
Jennylyn Mercado is glad to be working again with her inamorato, Dennis Trillo, in the last story featured in GMA-7’s hit primetime drama anthology, “I Can See You.” She and Dennis co-star with Rhian Ramos in the romance-mystery drama, “Truly, Madly, Deadly.”
“It’s nice to get to work with Dennis and each other again,” said Jen. “Antagal na nung soap naming ‘The Faithful Husband.’ Five years ago pa. That was heavy drama, so kakaiba naman itong ginawa namin ngayong ‘Truly, Madly, Deadly’ dahil it has a touch of mystery. Ibang DenJen ang mapapanood nyo rito kasi hindi ito basta pa-tweetums lang.”
What’s her role in the story?
“I’m Coleen, a career woman na naiskandalo sa social media after I was implicated with a married man. So minabuti kong mag-lie low muna and I left the city to try working in a place called Paradise Resort in a distant province to start anew and have a more peaceful life. Doon ko naman makikilala si Dennis as Drew, an information technology expert na mahiwaga ang pagkatao. Okay na sana ang buhay ko roon, tahimik na, until ‘yung best friend ko na naging mortal enemy ko, si Rhian nga in the role of Abby, biglang dumating doon sa resort to mess up my life.”
They taped the movie on location. “Nanibago si Dennis kasi ngayon lang niya na-experience ang lock-in setup. Ako, galing sa lock-in taping ng ‘Descendants of the Sun’ kaya mas sanay na ako. Buti na nga lang daw, ako ang kasama niya rito. Kapag kami ang magkasama, wala na kaming social distancing.”
Don’t miss JenDen in GMA-7’s “I Can See You” this week.

Sue Ramirez said it was not hard for her to accept TV5’s offer to do “Oh My Dad,” produced by Atty. Joji Alonso of Quantum Films.
“Kasi after I read the script, nagandahan ako and I liked the project right away,” she said at the TV5 media con. “And let’s face it, we all need work and I’m happy na may trabaho kami ng mga kasama ko rito.”
In “Oh My Dad,” she plays one of the three illegitimate kids of Ian Veneracion, who’s paired with Dimples Romana. The other two kids of Ian are Louise Abuel and Adrian Lindayag, but they have different mothers. This is under the direction of top director Jeffrey Jeturian.
On the big screen, Sue has just finished the action-drama, “Kid Alpha One,” opposite new action star Javi Benitez. It’s common knowledge that romance developed between them while making the movie. Javi proclaimed recently in his social media account: “I want to treat you like a queen!” To which Sue replied: “Thank you for everyday, Palangga! I love you so much!”

Khalil Ramos is now a Kapuso artist. He gained fame when, at the age of 15, he became first runner-up to Marcelito Pomoy in ABS-CBN’s “Pilipinas Got Talent 2011.” He played major supporting roles in many teleseryes and movies, and Star Cinema also gave him his own songs and records.
But naturally, his girlfriend, Gabbi Garcia, is rejoicing that they now both belong to the same network. She wrote this for him in her social media account: “Always proud of you, my love. Welcome to GMA, @TheKhalilRamos.” They were paired last year in the movie
“Last Song Syndrome” and we find it a well-crafted and endearing musical romance using the songs of Ben&Ben. It’s just too bad that as an entry in the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, it failed to make waves.
Now that he is a certified Kapuso, Khalil looks forward to portraying more challenging roles.
“I’d definitely want to take on roles that are acting pieces, like roles in a heavy drama series, or thriller and suspense roles as well. Comedy is also something I’d like to explore and I’d like to work with top Kapuso stars Alden Richards, Dingdong Dantes, Michael V., Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Janine Gutierrez, and Gabbi, of course.”
