‘She was my crush then, but we lost track of each other – Marco Gallo’
MARCO Gallo was discovered in “Pinoy Big Brother 7” (PBB) in 2016 when he was only 16 years old. His team up with Heaven Peralejo gained a lot of fans, but they traversed different paths after PBB. Now, he stars with Heaven in a new series, “The Rain in Espana,” now shown via streaming on Viva One. How did he feel when he learned Viva is pairing him with Heaven?
“I was really surprised but also I got excited to see her again since we lost connection after PBB,” he said. “She was my crush then, but we lost track of each other. I was happy to see her again kasi we were teenagers then, and now, we’re both a bit more mature.”
So how is it acting with Heaven?
“Working with her is probably the best work I’ve ever done as it didn’t even really feel like work. We had fun. She’s very professional and we’re both serious with work. While working with her, I saw different sides of her that I never knew before and I like it. She was so supportive and that is very important for me as I don’t like having drama on the set and we all get to work well together with the big cast. We had a happy set.”
We turn to Heaven and ask her about her experience working with Marco as her leading man.
“Masaya rin akong siya ang nakapareha ko rito. Inaalagaan niya talaga ako during the shoot. Mas lumalim ang friendship namin.”

“AFAM” (slang for foreigner) is the new movie of Vivamax on Pinays who fall in love with foreigners. There’s no doubt the lives of so many Pinays and their families have become more comfortable after they got an “afam” for their partner.
Exploring this concept of looking for an ideal foreigner partner is the theme of the directorial debut of Linneth Zurbano, who had worked mainly on TV as assistant director or second unit director.
“Malapit sa puso ko ang subject kasi certified ‘Afamista’ talaga ako, so marami akong mase-share tungkol dito,” she said. “I can share kung ano ang advantages and disadvantages ng having a relationship with an ‘afam’.”
It’s the first time for her to work with all her actors. “I’m very collaborative. I explain the scene to them and block it and ask them if they’re comfortable, even in doing the love scenes.”
“AFAM” stars Jela Cuenca, Robb Guinto, and Manila-based foreign actor, Nico Locco. In the story, Hazel (Jela) and Daisy (Robb) are co-workers in a hotel resort. They are both looking for a foreign partner. They soon find a chatmate, not knowing they are chatting with the same man who is using two names, JJ and Jamey (Nico Locco).
“The movie will show the dangers of romancing someone you really don’t know that well,” said Direk Linneth.
Find out the do’s and don’ts in having a foreigner boyfriend when you watch “Afam” that starts streaming on May 5.

Morisette is joining forces with Martin Nievera to stage a concert in the USA. The first show is on June 2 at the Graton Resort Casino at the Bay Area (which also happens to be Morisette’s 27th birthday) and on June 3 at Fantasy Resort Spring Casino. For tickets in the USA, call 702-8569723
Is this the first time they’re in a show together?
“No,” said Morisette. “Tito Martin was the very first artist na kumuha sa akin at isinama ako sa shows niya with TFC and abroad. But this is the first time na magkakasama kami after the pandemic and I’m so excited to sing with him again. I really feel so honored and humbled kasi, let’s face it, Concert King siya, ‘di ba?”
She was only 16 when she first performed with him in ABS-CBN. “He’s so friendly to new artists like me. He gives great advice and is so much fun to be with. I love watching him perform and I love performing with him.”
She’s now branching out to do other things. “Right now, I’m going through a transition period as an artist. I am growing more as an artist as I’m also getting into songwriting and producing, no longer just an interpreter of songs. And I’m glad that a lot of people are helping me to achieve it.”
She’s also getting into acting. “Yes, I’m shooting a movie, ‘Song of the Fireflies,’ shot in Bohol and about the Loboc Children’s Choir. It’s from the same team that made ‘Larawan, The Musical,’ with Celeste Legaspi and Rachel Alejandro. It’s a new challenge for me to act in a film.”
And how is her marriage to Dave Lamar? “It’s okay. We are celebrating our second wedding anniversary in June. It’s good that we were friends first. Now, we continue to grow together. He’s helping me with my songwriting and also put up our own music label to help other artists.”
