‘So I need to be fully prepared physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. — Glaiza de Castro’

GLAIZA de Castro says that since she got married, folks have been asking her when she is going to have a baby.
“We do have plans of having kids but right now, honestly, parang natatakot pa akong magbuntis,” she says at the press con of her new GMA soap, “The Seed of Love.” “So I need to be fully prepared physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Kasi nakikita ko rin sa mga kaibigan ko na hindi talaga madali magkaroon ng anak and be a mom.”
Her Irish husband David Rainey understands her stand. “Pareho kami, pinaghahandaan muna namin talaga. Pero nakakatuwa nga, kasi itong ‘The Seed of Love,’ it’s about getting pregnant and being a mom. Dito, we tackle the subject of in vitro fertilization.
She is glad women today are given a lot of choices.
And I think, ‘yun ‘yung isa sa mga lessons ng bago naming show na ‘The Seed of Love.’ ‘Yung characters that Valerie Concepcion and I have divergent views about love and motherhood and I’m sure may mapupulot kayong magandang insights from the show. So don’t miss it when we start airing this Monday, May 8.”

Martin del Rosario is very convincing in his gay roles in “Born Beautiful” and “The Panti Sisters” that some folks really questioned his gender. Now, anyone who doubts his masculinity should watch him in his role as Prince Zardoz, the main antagonist in “Voltes V Legacy.” How did he get the role?
“Like most other members of the show’s cast, I joined the auditions for ‘Voltes V Legacy’,” he says. “When I took the audition, I got nervous kasi andami namin. I didn’t expect na makuha ako, but to my surprise, I later got a call saying that I got the role of Prince Zardoz and I was so happy because his role as the show’s top villain is quite iconic for Voltes V followers. He wants to conquer Planet Earth.”
He wants to thank the show’s director, Mark Reyes, for allowing him to have freedom in interpreting the role.
I want to humanize him so the viewers will see his own inner struggles, his insecurity and where his anger is coming from. At the root of the story is the conflict between a family.
Kasi, ang mga bida ritong sina Miguel Tanfelix, Matt Lozano and Rafael Landicho or the Armstrong brothers, actually, mga kapatid ko rin sila. We have the same father, Dennis Trillo.”
Martin underwent rigorous training before shooting started. “I watched the anime version at malaking tao si Zardoz, so I had to work out para mas lumaki ang katawan ko,” he says.
“I also had a lot of costume fitting para makita kung ano ang mas babagay sa akin as Zardoz. And I tried to make my treatment of the role more human and not mala-cartoon or anime.”
He had a good time shooting the show on a lock-in set during the pandemic. “All of us became close with each other kasi nga magkakasama kami lagi sa set in various locations.
It was fun, we became a family and we were all sad when maghihiwalay na kami. We’re now excited as the series will start airing on GMA Telebabad on May 8, after the newscast, ‘24 Oras,’ at 8 p.m. Sa wakas, three years of hard work, mapapanood nyo na po.”

The new Vivamax movie, “Afam,” tackles the interracial relationship of Pinays with foreigners. What can its two lead stars Robb Guinto and Jela Cuenca say about this?
“It cannot be denied namang marami talagang Pinay na gustong makarelasyon ng afam,” says Robb. “I hope our film will open the eyes of people who look down on Pinays with foreigners for a partner. Ang hirap kasi, when they see a Pinay with a foreigner, ang tingin agad, pokpok, nangunguwarta lang.”
She thinks people should be more understanding of Pinays with “afams” for a partner.
Jela says that in Tiktok, foreigners are always warned “na mag-ingat sa mga Pinay.”
She says one reason Pinays fall for foreigners is they get to have good-looking kids.
Just like Robb, she has had an “afam” BF. “My first boyfriend was a foreigner.
