Ever deferential

‘The DDS demolition has now shifted to Trillanes, who has never backed down from any intensely personal, political or media offensives.’

THERE is little doubt that former senator Antonio Trillanes continues to defer to Vice President Leni Robredo and has been fiercely loyal to her and other leaders of the opposition. It is imperative for the ruling coalition to try to drive a wedge between the two to ensure a divided opposition during the national elections in May next year.

Trillanes meant every word he said that he “will wholeheartedly step aside if Vice President Robredo decides to run for President.” The DDS demolition has now shifted to Trillanes, who has never backed down from any intensely personal, political or media offensives.

The opposition and civil society need more men like him, portrayed more like a charlatan by his detractors and critics while ignoring his uncommon zeal and fearlessness as a fiscalizer. Trillanes’ repeated threats to send President Duterte to jail if he is elected president may be ample reasons for the administration’s riveting distress that makes him think that the coming elections may turn out to be “the most vicious and dirtiest ever.”

Please allow this rejoinder for Mother’s Day. I did not mean to picture my father, the late Romy Lacuna, as oppressive to my mother at the height of their marital problems.

Certainly, scores of marriages were not made in heaven but my father’s resentments did not turn him into a harsh or abusive husband. He became quite gentle and loving to all of us in his latter years. The healing came during my parents’ 50th golden wedding celebration which was followed by their trip to the United States, truly precious moments in their lives that we, their children, wouldn’t exchange for anything in the world. I knew he was my father sent to us by our real Father who rules the heavens and the earth.

I thank the Good Lord for making my radio program on DWIZ 882 AM possible again. This is part of the nightly “Salvation Today” Bible devotional and healing program that airs from Monday to Friday from 10 to 11 p.m. anchored by Sherween Eslava, chairman and president of Salvation Today Christian Broadcasting Ministry. Pastora Merlie Quiogue leads the healing and deliverance prayers with other pastors and church workers; testimonies of healing and deliverance are also welcome. We also undertake relief and emergency outreaches for calamity victims and indigents.

May we kindly request for mission partners to help us continue our broadcast, especially during this difficult time in a hurting world. You don’t have to have much to give and help.

Thank you very much in advance as the Holy Spirit opens your heart for this ministry work that I really hope to pursue until the day I die. You may call or text Sherween for details via 0915-533-3098 or this columnist via 0915-803-2252.
