COLEEN Garcia returns to acting in “Adarna Gang” after giving birth at home to her and Billy Crawford’s first born, Amari, on September 20, 2020. Amari is now more than a year old and she’s glad she got an offer to resume her work as an actress. In “Adarna Gang,” she plays the lead role of Adriana, the only child of Jose (Soliman Cruz) and Maria (Mickey Ferriols). She knows that her family is involved in an illegal syndicate but they don’t talk about it.

“My character is a simple girl who dreams of having a quiet life,” she said. “Gusto nga niya ng tahimik na buhay, but her dream gets shattered when her father is ruthlessly murdered. So maghihiganti siya sa nagpapatay, the syndicate boss himself, Ronnie Lazaro as Fernando.”

But things don’t turn out to be that simple. Fernando has three sons: JC Santos as Juan, Diego Loyzaga as Diego, and Mark Anthony Fernandez as Pedro. Fernando and his wife (Shamaine Buencamino) tell his sons that whoever gets to kill Adriana first will be their dad’s successor in their crime organization. So how’s it to be acting again?

“I was intimidated at first kasi matagal ako nagpahinga,” said Coleen. “Ang alam ko lang is magluto, mag-change ng diaper. Nalimutan ko how to do emotional scenes, nalimutan ko na kung paano magalit. It was very challenging for me to do scenes na galit na galit ako kasi I’m very happy now in my personal life. It’s good I am surrounded by good actors who are all very nice. First time ko to work with most of them and I’m glad they’re all approachable. Very challenging din ang role kasi nag-action ako, humawak ako ng baril.”

How is it being a mother now? “Being a mom is very life-changing. But it’s very fulfilling kasi inuuna ko muna ngayon ang needs ng baby namin. You wake up at night to feed him and maka-mommy talaga siya, very clingy, and I won’t have it any other way.”

Cassy Legaspi and JD Domagoso appeared in their first teleserye in “First Yaya.” Now, they are both back in the show’s sequel, “First Lady,” which is rating very high just like Season 1. So how do they feel about it?

“Siempre, pareho kaming tuwang-tuwa to be in Season Two,” said Cassy. “We had a great time with all our co-stars sa lock in taping ng ‘First Yaya’ at para na kaming family. So now, we are so happy to be reunited with them and also with each other again playing our characters, Nina and Jonas. I really feel so blessed na makasama uli si Tito Gabby Concepcion as our dad Pres. Glenn Acosta, at sina Clarence Delgado as my brother Nathan and Patricia Coma as my sister Nicole. And of course, Ate Sanya Lopez na yaya namin noon but now, stepmother na namin who we call mommy.”

How is she and JD in Season Two? “Kami pa rin ‘yung young love interest sa show. Napansin ko lang, JD has improved so much compared to his performance in ‘First Yaya.’ I tell him nga na mas at home na siya ngayon sa role niya as Jonas. Parang in some ways nga, si Jonas na siya when he’s in front of the camera and I tell him this, na mas nag-mature na ang acting niya.”

And what can JD say about this? “I want to thank Cassy for her encouraging words,” he says. “I’m really so thankful na nabigyan kami ng chance na magkatrabaho uli rito sa Season Two. I consider it a blessing na makasama siya uli kasi we really enjoyed naman each other’s company sa Season One. But I really had fun with all our co-stars in ‘First Yaya’ and it’s even more so enjoyable in ‘First Lady.’”

In their roles as Nina and Jonas, they will touch on some of the common issues that young people go through when it comes to teenage relationships. “Abangan nyo dahil maraming plot developments are ‘First Lady’ na gugulat sa inyo at tiyak na magugustuhan nyo,” added Cassy.

Carmina Villaroel plays Barbara, one of the top suspects in the murder mystery suspenserye, “Widow’s Web,” the first project of director Jerry Sineneng on GMA.

“I’ve worked with him before sa ABS-CBN and I’m thankful na sa first show ni Direk Jerry sa GMA, ako ang nakasama niya as I’m so excited to work with him again,” said Carmina.

“When I saw the trailer of ‘Widow’s Window,’ I was so impressed. Ang ganda! Kita mo agad na very glossy at ginastusan ng GMA ang buong production.”
In her previous teleseye, “Babawiin Ko ang Lahat,” she played a contravida. Is she now playing another such role in “Widow’s Web” as the sister of Ryan Eigenmann who’s one of the suspects in killing him, her own brother?

“Hindi naman ako contravida rito. Iba lang ang pag-uugali ni Barbara kasi magkaribal sila ng brother niya in wanting to control their family’s company. Before they gave this to me, akala ko I’d be resting muna kasi I also just did ‘The End of Us’ with Zoren. But when I read the script, the story itself captured my attention. Hindi ko pa alam kung sino ang mga makakasama ko, but I said yes right away.”

How does she feel now that her two children, Mavy and Cassy Legaspi, are now both busy in their own acting careers?

“Siempre, as a mom, I’m proud na they are now making a name for themselves at so far, maganda naman ang feedback sa mga trabaho nila. Kaya lang madalas kaming nalalayo sa isa’t isa. While I was taping, nalayo ako sa kanila at pagbalik ko, it’s time naman for Cassy to leave para sa lock in taping niya for ‘First Lady.’ But I guess ganun talaga, they have to live their own lives. Zoren and I are just very happy na we both raised very good kids na marespeto sa kapwa nila at marunong makisama. Very important ‘yun in the industry, ‘yung they know how to deal with everyone on the set.”
