‘If Heart listened to her mom then and didn’t marry her hubby now, then Chiz would have been her TOTGA or the one that got away.’
HEART Evangelista’s vlog is one of the most followed among celebrity YouTubers. Her recent posts about her parents, whose marriage ended in separation in 2016, have garnered millions of hits. Heart first featured her dad, Reynaldo Ongapuco, some weeks ago, then more recently, her mom Cecilia and sister Camille.
Both her mom and her dad were initially against her marriage to Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero, but now, they both admit they made a mistake as they can both see how happy their daughter is with Chiz. Heart asked Chiz to join them and her mom said: “You know what I like about your marriage? You allow each other to grow. You don’t stunt her growth, Chiz. Ikaw, full-grown ka na, kumbaga. But you don’t cramp her style.”
This shows that the saying “mother knows best” is not always true. If Heart listened to her mom then and didn’t marry her hubby now, then Chiz would have been her TOTGA or the one that got away. As of now, Heart is all set to return to acting in GMA’s romantic-drama series, “I Left My Heart in Sorsogon,” which Heart helped in its conception.
“I will play Celeste Estrellado,” says Heart. “I’m a small-town lass from Sorsogon who became a successful fashion designer in Manila. She is dating Manila’s most eligible bachelor, the wealthy Tonito Wenceslao III, played by Richard Yap. People expect them to face the altar soon, but when Celeste makes a surprise visit to her hometown in Sorsogon to take care of some family problems, complications occur. She meets again her former boyfriend, Mikoy, played by Paolo Contis, and realizes, as the show’s title says, that she left her heart in Sorsogon.”
Also in the big supporting cast are Kyline Alcantara, Mavy Legaspi Elizabeth Oropesa, Rey PJ Abellana, Shamaine Buencamino, Aubrey Miles and Marina Benipayo, directed by Mark Sicat de la Cruz.

Jasmine Curtis Smith is thankful that Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza fans who used to bash her vehemently for being paired with Alden have stopped doing so.
“I think they realized that actors should grow by being paired with other stars and not just their usual ka-love team,” she says. “Ako naman, I don’t allow myself anymore or my work to be affected by such bashings. Hindi naman makakatulong kasi nga negang-nega lang ang dating.”
So how is it doing a full season teleserye with Alden?
“It’s common knowledge we did a movie, ‘Imagine You and Me,’ na suporta lang ako, and an episode in ‘I Can See You,’ and yes this is our first long teleserye together na lock-in pa ang taping. Our experience in our past shows helped a lot to build a good foundation para mas maging madali ang pagsasama namin ngayon here in ‘The World Between Us.’ I’m thankful to be given the chance to work with him here, kasi it’s really fun as Alden is so easy to work with, along with all our co-stars in the show and our director, Dominic Zapata.”
Jasmine is happy to be given the opportunity to get to work with two acclaimed veteran actresses in the show: Dina Bonnevie as her mother and Jaclyn Jose as their rich family’s most trusted “mayordoma.” Both of them have nothing to say but good words for Jasmine.
“She is a very passionate actress, very professional,” says Dina.
“She’s a very good actress,” says Jaclyn. “In her character as Lia, nakuha niya ito nang buung-buo. This is my first time to work with her and napabilib niya ako sa acting niya.”
Jasmine is overwhelmed by the praises she got from her respected co-stars. “Kumpara sa kanila, baguhan pa lang ako sa industry and I am really thankful to get the chance to work with them kasi alam kong marami akong matututuhan sa kanila.”
Some folks have noticed she no longer posts photos of her boyfriend, Jeff Ortega, making them conclude that she’s now single.
“Teka,” says Jasmine, “may nagsabi bang single nga ako? Hindi lang ako nagse-share ng kuwento tungkol sa personal life ko sa social media, kasi mas gusto ko na lang na ang pag-usapan, ang mga project ko, hindi ang love life ko. So don’t miss ‘The World Between Us’ this Monday, July 5, at 8 p.m. after ‘24 Oras’.”

GMA Artist Center has launched in “All Out Sundays” their newest batch of fresh faces: Pamela Prinster, Mitzi Josh, Brianna, Sandro Muhlach and Gabrielle Hahn.
Pamela is a “Starstruck 7” discovery, a balikbayan from the US who sings, dances and acts.
“I’ve been into a lot of dancing recently but I actually can do a little bit of anything, even hosting,” she says. “But my first priority remains to be acting. I want to try all sorts of roles and eventually be recognized as a good actress.”
As for Mitzi, her talent is singing. “Ever since, I really want to sing and perform in front people even as a child,” she says. “I can’t wait na maipakita ko sa inyo kung ano ang mga kaya kong mai-contribute sa music industry. Later, I also want to try acting and hosting.”
Brianna is the daughter of Kapuso actor-director Michael V. She says: “I would like to showcase both singing and acting po. I would also like to do dancing pero my main focus po is singing and acting because those are the two areas that I am super passionate about for a long time now. I just want to bring it out to the world and show what I’ve been working on.”
Sandro is the eldest son of former child star Niño Muhlach and he really wants to focus on acting. “I’ve taken a lot workshops about acting so I think I’m ready. I can say pinag-aralan ko talaga siya and I know all the techniques. I promise to do my best dahil dala ko ang name ng family namin at ayoko namang mapahiya ang relatives kong nauna sa akin dito, like my dad and my Uncle Aga.”
Gabrielle used to be a varsity chess player when she was studying at the Ateneo. She then left the country and studied Governance at the University of Bonn in Germany. “But my heart is really in acting,” she says. “I can also sing pero I prefer to act talaga. I dream of getting the chance to work with Marian Rivera and Heart Evangelista kasi fan talaga nila ako.”
You can watch these five new stars as they perform in the segment FYP (Fresh Young Peeps) in “All Out Sundays.”
