POLITICAL surveys have seen better days, especially after it became evident that a commissioned or sponsored activity can never be independent.
Now comes the Pulse Asia survey that showed President Duterte enjoying a 91 percent approval rating. It is extremely difficult to stomach the survey result, especially with the fumbling mismanagement of the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The nightly press briefings have conveyed an occasionally disoriented President occupied with verbal assaults against the opposition and the NPAs while more and more COVID-infected people were dying.
The respondents’ stunning recreation of another reality from the Philippines taking the top two spot or second to Indonesia among only 20 countries around the world with the most number of COVID patients can be drawn from a DDS equation. And people now should be regarded with different sets of lenses, their political colors notwithstanding, to view a remarkably performing Chief Executive from another who had failed miserably well. With his shockingly high satisfaction credits, the President will probably assign much of the blame of more than 5,000 COVID deaths to the NPAs.

There is little doubt that more and more people have been turning to prayer probably like never before, for healing and protection against this virus scourge. Miraculous healings are again a common subject of awe and inspiration because they do often happen from the increasing number of recoveries during this dark time.
Even the superstitious now attribute the healings of their relatives to our God of the Bible and to Our Lord Jesus Christ and no longer to figurines and rituals.
Holy Spirit-filled prayers for healings should be regular spiritual protocols today, hand-in-hand with Biblical preaching that otherwise stress less immediate physical and spiritual concerns.
More families today face spiritual battles with loved ones still in hospital ICUs and surely need frequent congregational healing prayers. Indeed, one of God’s benefits is healing, as vividly expressed in Psalm 103:”Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being praise His holy Name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget no all his benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion….”
