The actress said she has moved on and would rather focus on herself.
ANDREA Torres finally broke her silence after Derek Ramsay involved her parents to defend himself for breaking up with her. In effect, she says she cannot understand his motive in mentioning her parents when she herself kept quiet all the time to make it all very private. She said: “I don’t really see the significance of discussing details in public. I honestly have a different memory of what transpired and who ended it, but I think it is not worth my time and energy to explain, because it will only turn into a ‘he said, she said’ thing.
What good will come out of it?
“All the while, I have just been focused on myself and what is happening in the world. For as long as I am at peace with God and myself and I can truly say that I have chosen to be a better person, then I am fine and I have moved on. It’s been months. What’s the point?”
Then she added more meaningfully: “If he truly respects me and my family, then let us just have our peace.”
Andrea says she has been unattached since they broke up five months ago, whereas Derek quickly hooked up with Ellen Adarna and after only two months, he has proposed to her and they are about to get married. But unlike Derek who is jobless, Andrea has taped for a new GMA series, “Legal Wives,” where she plays Diane, the Christian wife of Dennis Trillo who plays a Muslim with two other wives.
Most netizens sympathize with Andrea. As one of them told her: “You should still be thankful to the Lord dahil iniligtas ka Niya sa kapamahakan bago nahuli ang lahat.
Makakatagpo ka rin eventually ng isang lalaking mas nararapat para sa iyo and will not break your heart.”

Gabbi Garcia feels relieved that her boyfriend Khalil Ramos has fully survived his bout with the Covid-19 virus. This has stopped the taping of the new romance series they’re doing, “Love You, Stranger,” which is their first teleserye together. Khalil says he tested positive in their swab testing so he had to quarantine himself.
“I had some symptoms but very mild naman,” he says. “May konting hingal at saka nangati ‘yung throat ko nang kaunti, also headaches. Pero hindi naman ako nilagnat at hindi rin ako inubo. In other words, hindi siya grabe. I’m just thankful na hindi nahawa sa akin ang sinuman sa family ko.”
It’s good Gabbi didn’t contract the virus?
“I had to undergo quarantine also,” she says. “But thankfully, ang swab test ko, negative naman. Ang family ko rin, nagpa-test at negative kaming lahat.”
They didn’t see each other for a while, but when Gabbi put up her own community pantry in their village in Paranaque, Khalil was there to help her. She says she was inspired by our kababayans who put up their own community pantries to help the needy. “I started by buying all the vegetables na tinitinda ng nagdadala ng gulay sa amin then ipinamigay ko.
Pati ‘yung nagtitinda ng ice cream, binili ko rin and gave it away.”
The next day, she decided to put up her own tent. “’Yun ang nakakatuwa kasi ang dami agad nagbigay ng donations,” she beams. “Overflowing ang binibigay na goodies for our pantry. Andaming generous people na nagbibigay ng canned goods, rice, noodles.”
Of course, bashers will always be around and Gabbi is chided for allegedly being “gaya-gaya.”
A basher said: “Haysss. Kung hindi pa gagawin to ng mga walang kaya at salat sa buhay, hindi rin gagawin ng mga mayayaman!”
Gabbi then replied. “If you want to help then okay, thank you. But if you don’t want to help, tapos may masasabi ka pa, please, let’s not spread negativity na lang. Let’s just help each other go through this pandemic.”

Pokwang plays the title role in Regal Entertainment’s Mother’s Day special presentation, “Mommy Issues,” written and directed by Jose Javier Reyes. She co-stars with Sue Ramirez, Jerome Ponce, Ryan Bang and Gloria Diaz. They had a lock in shooting for the whole family in Pampanga last November. She can totally relate with her role as she is a mother of two daughters in real life.
“Kapag ina ka, ready ka to make kahit anong sacrifice para sa kapakanan ng mga anak mo,” she says. “Itong movie na ito ay alay namin sa lahat ng mga ina na talagang handang magpakasakit for their children.”
Her eldest daughter, Mae, is now 21 years old while her youngest, Malia, sired by her current partner American actor Lee O’Brian, is 3 years old. In “Mommy Issues,” Pokwang plays Ella, the daughter of Gloria Diaz.
Why is the title of the movie “Mommy Issues”? “Kasi nga, kami ni Sue, pareho may issue with our mommies. Ako kay Miss Gloria Diaz kasi tutol siya sa boyfriend ko, si Ryan Bang, na Koreanong ubod ng yaman dito. Ako naman, tutol sa boyfriend dito ni Sue, played by Jerome Ponce. So, nandun ang conflict ng story, ‘yung mga nanay, ayaw sa lovelife ng mga anak nila.”
As a mother, does she have any special wish for Mother’s Day? “Ang wish ko lang talaga is matapos na ang pandemic na ito. Naaawa rin kasi ako sa mga bata kasi maghapon lang nakakulong sa bahay at bawal lumabas. Also, para makapagtrabaho na rin kami uli nang maayos kasi as of now, before each shoot or taping, kailangan munang magpa-swab test ka. Nakakailang sundot na nga ako ng ilong ko. Parehong butas, hindi na virgin!”
“Mommy Issues” will be shown on Upstream.ph, KTX, iWant and TFC on May 7 as a special Mother’s Day presentation.
