A POLICE captain and his wife were shot dead early yesterday morning by an unknown assailant inside their residence in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

The Southern Police District identified the victims as Capt. Aminoden “Dino” Mangonday, 40, and his wife, Mary Grace, 35. Mangonday was assigned to the Muntinlupa police station.

The couple’s 11-year-old daughter was wounded in the attack.

Initial investigation showed the attack took place at around 1:10 a.m. while the victims were inside their house in Tierra Villas in L&B Compound, Ilaya Street in Alabang.

The unidentified assailant, described as sporting long hair, around 5-foot-9 in height and wearing black pants and a black jacket — entered the victims’ residence and proceeded to shoot them. The couple died instantly while their daughter was brought to the nearest hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds in her leg.

Mangonday entered the police force as a lateral entrant and was a member of the Sinaglahi Class of 2007.

In a post on his official Facebook account, Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon condemned the attack and urged the police to find and arrest the assailant.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the brazen attack on the family of PCpt. Aminoden Mangonday which has resulted in the death of the police officer and his wife and the wounding of his daughter. This act of violence against a law enforcement officer and his family should be investigated thoroughly, leaving no stone unturned to find the perpetrators and the mastermind and prosecute them,” Biazon said.
