HEALTHSERV Los Baños Medical Center (HLBMC), an outstanding pillar of compassionate and efficient healthcare services in the south, has just turned 20.

Healthserv was the bright idea of 11 doctors who pooled their services and resources in 2002 to be able to provide quality medical services to the people of Los Baños in Laguna. The doctors’ dream did not only came to life but grew roots to become a “center of excellence” in southern Luzon.

Healthserv Los Baños Medical Center to this day continues to deliver quality healthcare service in the province. It is now categorized as a level 2 hospital, with a 92-bed capacity and specialty centers within its core.  In 2016, it became part of Mount Grace Hospital Inc. (MGHI), a network of hospitals which aim to provide excellent and a wide range of medical services in various areas of the country.

The Center’s partnership with the MGHI has enhanced HLBMC’s professional engagement and efficiency, giving it the opportunity to bring outstanding healthcare services to Los Baños communities and enabling it to become one of the true pillars of healthcare service in the south area.

On the day that marked its 20th year anniversary, HLBMC again featured its persistent growth, highlighted by the blessing and opening of its newly reconstructed Cardiac Center located in its IPD-Hospital Building ground floor.

The Cardiac Center will seeks to cater to more cardiovascular clients and integrate state-of-the-art care facility. It will likewise offer the services of cardiac specialists headed by Dr. Emmanuel Lantican and Dr. Rojohn Maliwat in all aspects of cardiovascular care.

Aside from the Cardiac Center, the HLBMC also opened its Executive VIP Lounge, dedicated to its well and able clients who are due for their executive annual health screening, another great service feature of HLBMC.

In a press conference on June 6, more healthcare services and facilities were featured, including the newly built Pediatric Respiratory Clinic, also known as the “Sick Kids Clinic.” The clinic’s services were discussed in detail by co-founder Dra. Jocelyn Tababa, who is a pediatrician. The clinic is strategically located away from the IPD and OPD buildings of the hospital, a genius idea designed to give more protection to sick children.

Also discussed during the press briefing were the Cancer Care facility (by co-founder Dr. Maria Isabel Jamias), the Eye Center (HLBMC chairman and a member of the Board of Directors Dr. Orville Ocampo),  and the planned Elderly Care haven (discussed by family and community medicine consultant Dr. Teri Laude).

HLBMC newly elected president Melfred D. Sumaya and Business Development officer Dr. Lisa Ang Santo also gave talking points on the long-term development plans and corporate growth of Healthserv Los Banos in the years to come.

A “Legacy Tree Planting” activity capped the anniversary celebration, which was led by the Center’s 12 founders and board of directors. The officers said the planted trees symbolize their dedication and unfailing support for the growth of HSLBMC, a pledge which they similarly made 20 years ago, a legacy that shall endure through the years as the institution continues to nurture the health of the people living in the Los Baños community and neighboring areas.
