We would like to ask the indulgence of our readers as we express our appreciation to those who remembered us on our birthday on Monday, August 1.

Thank you to colleagues in showbiz who sent us their greetings, like our fellow Malaya Business Insight entertainment columnist Mario Bautista, two of our closest editors, Salve Asis and Ian Fariñas, our favorite Bambii Fuentes, actor Ricky Davao, and friends from the Kapamilya, Kapuso and Kapatid networks.

We miss the parties and the press cons and seeing each other face to face. The pandemic has kept us indoors, but your prayers, greetings and love reached us.

Thank you, thank you.

Just asking: Now that Billy Crawford has a show on GMA, will his wife, Coleen Garcia, follow suit?

Billy is back to GMA-7 with the show, “The Wall Philippines.”

The game show is a co-production between GMA-7 and Viva Entertainment, Inc. Of course, Viva Artists Agency handles the career of Billy, who was previously being managed by Arnold Vegafria.

“The Wall Philippines” used to air on TV5. The concept remains the same. “The Wall” is a pachinko game with a twist. It’s part knowledge and part luck, as contestants need to answer trivia questions.

The game’s main goal is to bank as much money as possible by answering questions and landing the balls on high-value bins. The mechanics are simple — get a correct answer to get a green ball, miss a question and get a red ball. Green adds, red subtracts.

“The Wall Philippines” will be airing on GMA this month.

‘She and Ian have intimate scenes in the movie, so they had to work on getting comfortable with each other.’

Heaven Peralejo is excited to be getting her biggest break in the Rein Entertainment Productions thriller, “Nanahimik ang Gabi,” written and directed by Shugo Praico.

The 22-year-old plays a sugar baby, whose boyfriend, played by Ian Veneracion, is a corrupt cop. Working with Ian, and actor Mon Confiado, was a breeze — “Masaya, ang gwapo ng ‘Chief’ mo!” she said — but the role was unfamiliar territory, because Heaven admitted she is her family’s breadwinner and she does not know how it is to rely on someone.

“Being an independent woman, it’s hard to love someone na opposite of me. Like, humihingi ako sa kanya ng pera, na alam kong corrupt at abusive cop, na alam ko rin naman na may kapalit,” said Heaven.

It was the first time for her to play a daring role, and she is all praises for the script by Direk Shugo, because the roles were threshed out that it was not hard to grasp her character’s motivation.

She and Ian have intimate scenes in the movie, so they had to work on getting comfortable with each other.

“Pero dahil nagkaroon kami ng mga meetings with the directors and with the cast, kami [ni Ian], parang alam na namin,” said Heaven, “Napag-usapan din namin kung paano kaya tayo, like pano ‘yung difference ni Chief at sugar baby, ‘di ba?”

It was good that Ian helped ease her into the role.

“At first, nung nalaman ko’ng si Ian Veneracion ang magiging partner ko — si Kuya Mon [kasi] alam ko na — ‘di ko alam kung pano maging katrabaho. Syempre alam mo’ng kilalang -kilala na sya as an artist. Pero nung first time kami nag meet, parang pinaramdam nya agad na pwede ako maging komportable sakanya. And kay Meanne and kay Chief, kailangan kasi dun ng trust. Alam mo ‘yun, parang tinulungan nya din ako na build ang trust sa isa’t isa and ’yun! Mabilis, medyo mahirap lang.”
