DAYS after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) – Region IV-A issued a new wage order, the Workers Initiative for Wage Increase (WIN4WIN) will appeal today, Monday, the pay hike provided under Wage Order No. IVA-20.
“The new wage order is not enough. It is an insult to the workers in the region. A substantial increase in minimum wages is urgent, necessary, and just,” WIN4WIN said in an advisory.
The labor group said it shall insist that a P750 minimum wage rate is needed by Calabarzon workers before the Calabarzon wage board.
“A P750 wage increase will help minimum wage earners in Calabarzon to cope with the impacts of the rising price of goods and services,” said WIN4WIN.
To recall, the Metal Workers Alliance of the Philippines (MWAP) and WIN4WIN asked the Calabarzon wage board to set the minimum wage rate in Region IV-A at P750.
But in its Wage Order No. IVA-20 issued September 1, the RTWPB – Region IV-A provided a wage increase ranging from P35 to P50.
This means the new minimum wage rates in the region will be from P385-P520 in the non-agriculture sector; P385-P479 in the agriculture sector; and P385 for retail and service establishments employing not more than 10 workers.
