PRESIDENT Duterte will convene his full Cabinet next week as he winds down on activities and prepares for the transfer of power to the next administration in June.
“Next week. we will see if last or may changes,” Communication Secretary and acting presidential spokesman Martin Andanar said when asked if it will be the last full Cabinet meeting of Duterte as president.
He said among the possible topics include appointments to recent vacancies in government such as the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).
Andanar said the term of the President is until 12 noon of June 30 and he will accomplish all schedules and events included in his calendar before he steps down from office.
“So, whatever is scheduled in the calendar of the President, all official events, all that he needs to meet, all that he needs to sign, the President will manage the Executive Branch until June 30, 2022 at 12 noon,” he said.
Andanar added that Duterte is mum about the Cabinet choices of presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
He said there had never been any discussions about the incoming Cabinet during the Talk to the People addresses or mini-Cabinet meetings.
Marcos has already named presumptive vice president Sara Duterte-Carpio as his incoming education secretary, Atty. Vic Rodriguez as his incoming executive secretary, Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. as incoming interior and local government secretary, Crispin Remulla as justice secretary, Bienvenido Laguesma as labor and employment secretary, and Susan Ople as secretary for migrant workers.
