FOR the first time in its 20-year history, Miss Earth will crown their new titleholder with a virtual coronation night on November 29, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eighty-four eco angels have been competing online for the last two months in various subsidiary contests like talent, beach wear, sportswear, evening gown, national costume and talks about environmental issues and their personal environment platforms; as well as the crucial preliminary judging for face and poise, figure and form, and intelligence and advocacy.
We have chosen seven ladies who are most likely to make it to the finals for the coveted title of Miss Earth and her elemental court (Misses Air, Water and Fire). They are: Roxanne Allison Baeyens of the Philippines, Stephany Zreik of Venezuela, Lindsey Coffey of the USA, Sabina Poltawska of Poland, Tessa Le Conge of the Netherlands, Nampetch Teeyapar of Thailand and Lungo Katete of South Africa. Interestingly, Teeyapar is competing for Thailand for the second straight year, after making it to the top 20 last year.
To be hosted by popular online and TV personality James Deakin, the finals will see a new Miss Earth being selected to succeed reigning titleholder Nellys Pimentel from Puerto Rico.
This year’s international celebrity judging panel includes: Latin American singer and TV host Patricia Zavala, United Nations Industrial Development Organization president Hassan Eltigani Malik, international DJ, model, and singer Natalia Barulich, world-class violinist Iskandar Widjaja, women empowerment advocate, and social entrepreneur Jewel Colmenares Lobaton, and international restaurateur, environmental advocate, and philanthropist Michael Ma.
Organized and staged by Carousel Productions Inc., and presented by Jewel Beauty Strong, the 20th Miss Earth finals will be aired on ktx.ph on Sunday at 10 a.m.
